Columbia Slave Laws
By: Columbia Confederates Date: August 24, 2015, 4:52 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
(1) Since Columbia's inception in the late 1700's, involuntary
servitude and slavery has been outlawed.
(2) Many of these 'slaves' are indentured servants who could not
pay off debt or needed financial protection.
(3) Thief's and Criminals can be bought by people to serve their
terms outside of prison as field workers.
(4) Indentured servants usually stay around for 6 years and then
are set free with payment for their works.
(5) Planters generously give to their slaves when freed. Many
planters will give flocks, land, wine, and money to the men who
worked hard for them.
(6) Slaves are held responsible to the law and must act as if
they are free men by fulfilling their civil duties.
(7) Runaway slaves are protected by the state government.
Usually runaway slaves are abused and will be given an attorney
to defend them in court.
(8} Columbia outlawed the abuse of slaves in 1860. Slaves may be
whipped, but excessive abuse and punishment will be tried and
the slave will be set free.
(9) Slaves are free to practice religion and the state
government defends that right.
(10) Columbia has passed numerous female slave laws to protect
them from sexual abuse.

OOC:... am I missing something? You say slavery is outlawed in
your first rule, then continue on to describe limitations for
it.
One of the higher ups may need to check this, but I don't think
slavery is allowed in the NCSA- not to mention that I'm pretty
sure the World Assembly has passed a resolution banning slavery
worldwide.

He said involuntary as in forced into it. Voluntary is them
having the choice themselves.

Okay then go have a higher up look at it, but in the NCSA
Constitution slavery isn't outlawed.

OOC: Okay, you're right. But lets all just calm down now.

OOC: Yes. Calming down is a brilliant idea. This sounds like the
days of old where there was a lot more of :'( than :P . We do
need to remember that this is a game, and just because a nation
supports something here doesn't mean that their real life views
are that as well.

OOC: Well, these -are- his personal views, and he took it very
very personally. He cannot distinguish between IC and OOC, and
he feels that when we attack his nation's choices, we attack
him.

Caos that is false. I actually don't believe slavery is morally
right, I think if someone does want to be a slave though, then
who am I to stop them right? It is time to stop the :'( and
time to let loose and start the :P
