Annual neuro appointment |

I usually reschedule any appointment if the weather is apt to be |
|
over 90' but this time I took my chances. The annual appointment |
|
with my neuro had already been rescheduled once. It was to have |
|
been in March, and when I postponed it, the next available time |
|
was in September. |
|
I was relying on air conditioning to be working |
|
everywhere--paratransit vans, lobbies where I would need to |
|
wait, and the doctor's office. I was lucky and had very little |
|
time out in the oppressive heat. |

She and I had a pleasant talk, and I told her about my fall in |
|
June. She did a few brief reflex tests and |
|
strength-against-resistance tests, the usual finger-to-nose |
|
test, and that was all. |

Then I was on my way, after setting up another appointment in |
|
September 2026. |

She is my idea of an excellent neurologist. If I had a more |
|
complicated case of MS, I would probably feel differently. I |
|
would want someone who specializes in MS. But this one always |
|
leaves the way open for me to decide. It's as if she realizes |
|
that even with her neurological training and experience, she |
|
doesn't know as much about my MS as I do. She knows a lot about |
|
MS in general but it's probably true that if you've seen one |
|
case of MS, you've seen one case of MS. If you try and |
|
generalize about it, you're on shaky ground. |
