[1] Review- The Realm of The Owl
By: blackmustangs075 Date: December 12, 2012, 2:59 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello, fans. For those of you who don't know, this is my
first legit review (On this site). Since this isn't the
mainsite, I may be keeping my reviews short and simple. So
please, grab the popcorn and enjoy the review!
"The Realm of the Owl" is created by Michaelrd, who has
requested me to write this review for him. So this is dedicated
to you, Mike! This game was created with the platformer game
maker on Sploder. As the title may suggest, you are in the Realm
of the Owl. (No kidding, Mr Obvious).
There isn't a very solid storyline for this game, mostly
just a mash-up of tough levels. Although the levels tend to be
small and slightly complex, the game is still enjoyable (Which
is the most important thing). I found the levels to be the least
bit intricate, even though the game difficulty is rated 10. This
rating surprised me, for reasons I have previously stated.
Sadly, I'm going to cover negatives first. (Aww,
blackmustangs!) I felt the game could have had more
Puzzles/Traps in it. The lack of puzzles in the game deducted
from the gameplay very greatly. Many people like simple games,
but I for one am all about challenging games. Like a sturdy
building, there needs to be a base. Puzzles make up a huge chunk
of the base of a game. With the major shortage of traps and
puzzles in the game, that "house" just collapses.
One huge thing that detracted from the overall score was
the absence of decorations. Some back walls, torches, anything
would have increased the feel of the game. I am very picky when
it comes to scenery in a game. If the scenery is terrible, or
there is none at all, there is no feel to it. You just feel like
you're walking on a straight line (Which you kind of are). If
you look at all of the featured Platformer games on Sploder, you
will most likely see all of the games having great decorations
(Getting off topic?). Long story short, decorations make up a
good game.
Looking at what I have stated thus far, you may be thinking
that this game is not worth playing. In all reality though, this
was a very fun game and I would gladly play it anytime. Although
Michaelrd tends to copy a lot of famous game maker's ideas (It's
true, Michael), he still knows how to make a good game. There
were a couple good traps and concepts in this game, so that sort
of increases its overall quality.
I feel that this game lacked a good length (The game only
contained 7 short levels) but it was still a pleasure to play.
Would I recommend trying out this game? Most definitely.
Score Card
Gameplay- 5/10
Challenge- 6/10
No Lag- 10/10
Decorations- 1/10
Puzzles/Traps- 5/10
Creativity- 7/10
Originality- 5/10
Fun- 7/10
Overall Score: 46/80 (About 3/5)
Do I think this game is feature-worthy? No, but it is still a
good game.
Thanks to everyone for reading. Hasta Luego!

[/quote] I am not slacking off, It's just that I cannot be on
this site for 10 hours a day. I have other things to do outside
of the site. If you think you can do better, feel free to
impress one of us recruiters with an excellent review and start
making some reviews.

I understand that you can't be on all the time. This review
covered a lot of information in a few sentences. Also, you are
accepting requests, so you have to do a lot of work on
reviewing. You are now a reviewer recruiter. I'll add you to the
group. You can deny/accept reviews now!
