rough outside, sweet inside....type 38 Arisaka

Glanced the bulletin board at the car wash this week and saw a
"Japanese War Rifle" advertised. The call was made, meeting set
up and deal was struck. Rifle looks really rough, ground mum,
and trainer 00 serial prefix added. Bolt is really crusty but
everything works. Cleaning rod too. I'm on a buying ban, but man
$75 is way too cheap. After a tear down I found it's in
fantastic shape under the wood and the bore is really nice. The
bore photo is before I ran anything through it. I had two type
38s, sold one to a friend recently because they were so similar.
Now I have this, guess I'm meant to have more than one.

He also through in a Japanese machine gun carrying handle that
looks to have been pried from the gun.
