Tips for banner makers.

Cause I'm so boss at GFX here's some tips.
Use professional software e.g. Photoshop and Illustrator
Always use a canvas size of 800x800, 1920x1080 and 1280x720 if
your making backgrounds or avatars if they're HD. For posters
and the like just upscale A4.
Don't use too many bright, neon colours. Colour is nice however
it can be a bit OTT. If your going for a clean professional
finish use a grey tone and throw in a little colour.
Make sure text is always clear. Having blue text on a blue
background is hard to read and looks silly.
Keep the same theme. When using text and colours make sure to
use the same font throughout with the accepting of titles which
are primarily bolder. Also don't have contrasting colour.
Lighten it up. Don't be afraid to add a lighting effect or
adjustment layer to increase the contrast and brightness for a
more upbeat look.
Make all edges perfect. Make sure you have no jittery edges. Use
a soft brush with very little hardness to soften it up.
Never use a banner making website with presets ad branding then
claim it as your own.
Refrain from using excess animated text. K3 has just about the
right balance so go off him.
Simple can be superior. A simple style can be very effective
compared to a complex eyegasm of effects and colour.
Finally, don't be afraid to experiment and click new buttons in
your program. Photoshop can be quite daunting however I learnt
by messing with the effects and shape tools.
I'll add more if anything comes to mind.
Feel free to ask me a question of for advise and feedback.
For those who want to know To know what I use: Photoshop CS6,
After Effects CS6, Illustrator CS6, Flash CS6 (for making GIFs),
Premiere Pro CS6, iMovie, Screenflow 3, Elgato Game Capture HD,
Final Cut Pro 7 and Flash live media encoder.
I didn't pay for all that software.
Get CS6 free on a mac!
