February Monthly Membership Meeting 2-25-18
By: Angela Fore Date: February 5, 2018, 2:10 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
[size=12pt]Please join your chicken family for this month's
educational meeting on 2-25-18 at the Mobile Botanical Gardens,
5151 Museum Drive, Mobile, AL 36608. The meeting will run from
3:00 to 4:00pm. We request that you begin arriving around 2:30
so that you will have time for fellowship and refreshments.
Our February meeting topic is Baby Chicks 101. We will have a
couple of presentations covering the basics of raising baby
chicks and we will also have an updated handout for you to take
home with you for your future reference. Then, Tracy McCarter
will speak to us about what they have going on at St. Elmo Feed
and Seed this Chick Season and answer questions about what
breeds they have coming in over the next few weeks. Tracy and
her staff have been kind enough to put together a basket of baby
chick supplies that we will have a separate drawing for as well.
Thank you Tracy, you are the best! Next on the agenda we will
have Sarah Butterworth, the Mobile County 4H Agent speak to us
for a few minutes about the upcoming 4H Chick Chain Program.
Sarah will also have applications with her so if you are
interested in your children participating in The 4H Chick Chain
this year this a great opportunity to start the enrollment
process. Last but certainly not least we will be starting a new
monthly meeting feature entitled "Breed Spotlight." This month's
Breed Spotlight will shine on Silkies. Karen Strickland will
bring one of her Silkie hens and chicks so you will be able to
see the breed up close and ask questions. After Karen's
presentation we will ask you the audience a few questions about
the day's presentations and you will have an opportunity to win
some additional prizes.
Of course we will have activities and goodies for our younger
members, refreshments and as always door prizes to be given away
throughout our meeting. Depending on how much time we have I
would like to take a few minutes to ask you all what you type of
topics that you all would be interested in seeing presented over
the coming year. This is your chicken club and we want your
input!! Your meeting homework is 1) Put the meeting on your
schedule and come join us next Sunday! 2) Decide what topics
you would like to see presented in the future. 3) Decide what
delicious refreshment creation you are going to share with your
chicken family.
Our monthly meetings are for those who are paid members of
MBABYCC. If you are not a paid member, we would love for you
join our chicken family! The dues are 20.00 a year and that
covers all family members living in your home. For your
investment of 20.00 you can attend monthly educational meetings,
two picnics a year, a Christmas party and other MBABYCC events.
The link to fill out an application for membership and to pay
online is:

As always, our sweet Margaret Pinter, Hospitality Chairwoman,
and her team will be on hand to check in club members and will
have membership applications available for anyone wanting to
join at the meeting. They will gladly answer any questions you
may have and will help you join us if you choose to do so.
Looking forward to seeing everyone next Sunday! Let's make this
a great meeting! :)

Hi Lisa!!! We hope to see you and your sweet family! Our
traditional topic for February to coincide with the start of
chick season is Baby Chicks 101. We have a couple of
presentations on baby chick care and Tracy McCarter with St Elmo
Feed and Seed will be on hand to speak as well. We are also
going to start a new "Featured Breed presentation" where a
member will bring in a chicken and tell us all about that
particular breed. The audience will then have the opportunity
to answer questions about the presentation and win prizes. I
will post more details after our Board Meeting on Tuesday night.
Looking forward to seeing y'all on the 25th!

I cant speak in front of groups! I get too nervous then cant
even speak! But if someone else wants to talk about them, Im
more than happy to bring one of our girls.
