| Hurt chick | |

| I have a 2 week old sizzle chick that got out of the fence and a | |
| dog grab it in its mouth then dropped it. But now the little | |
| chick cannot stand and is leaning to one side. I have it in a | |
| box inside. It acts like one of its legs might be hurt in the | |
| thigh area but not sure. Any suggestions? | |

| Oh....sorry to hear that. You need to find the injury site and | |
| work from there. Does the chick appear to have a broken bone or | |
| dislocation? | |

| Darlene, | |
| In the past, some people treated spraddle leg using a band aid. | |
| This may be close to that. Here is an article from The Chicken | |
| Chick. See if that works for you. Plus, there are many other | |
| articles that are basically the same. I hope the chick | |
| recovers. | |
| And, like Travis said, see if you can actually find the injury. | |

| How is your chick this morning? Were you able to assess the | |
| injury? Girl, I know you have all of the tools to handle in | |
| your awesome first aid kit. :) | |

| At first I thought it was broken, but not sure. I kept it with | |
| mama last night and today it is stumbling around trying to keep | |
| up with siblings and I saw it eating and drinking. It is | |
| favoring its left side. | |

| Thank you Angela. I am doing research on that. It is stumbling | |
| trying to keep up with mama but I brought it in because it was | |
| shivering. Thank, I will keep yall posted. | |

| Can you take her to see Dr. Erak? Did you try to make a hobble | |
| for her with the Vetrap yet? I know you have that in your first | |
| aid kit since I took a pic of it. It is difficult to know how to | |
| treat if you do not know what the actual injury is. Have you | |
| tried looking up videos on YouTube? BYC has a TON of info on | |
| chick leg injuries. Keep that baby warm, when they are injured | |
| and sick it is hard for them to maintain their body temp. On the | |
| bright side, chicks are resilient little creatures, she is | |
| probably going to heal up just fine. Please keep us posted so | |
| that everyone can learn from your experience. | |

| Well, today on Sunday 29th, I am happy to say that the chick has | |
| fully recovered. No more limping or leaning and falling over. | |
| Seems to like being a pampered little thing! A few nights we | |
| kept it inside and a few nights we let it stay with mama | |
| outside. Now it is running around with the other chicks! I am | |
| happy about that! | |

| So glad to hear that Darlene! Did you have to do anything | |
| special to help her heal? | |

| It never ceases to amaze me at how resilient chickens can be, | |
| especially when they are young. | |
