Sec. 7-14. - Keeping poultry. |
|
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain |
|
poultry within the city without a permit from the director. No |
|
permit will be issued authorizing the keeping of any rooster |
|
within a residentially zoned area other than an area zoned as a |
|
residential-agricultural (R-A) district. (b) Chickens must be |
|
kept in a chicken house, coop, ark, or yard which must meet |
|
requirements as set by the director. (c) It shall be unlawful |
|
for any person to keep any rooster within a residentially zoned |
|
area other than an area zoned as a residential-agricultural |
|
(R-A) district. |

Definitions according to the City of Mobile Ordinance: |
|
Fowl. For the purpose of this chapter, the term means chickens, |
|
ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas, quail, pheasants and all other |
|
fowl kept as a pet or for ornamental purposes. |
|
Poultry. Domesticated fowl (e.g., ducks, geese, turkeys, |
|
chickens, etc.). |

Luckily, the section against carrying a chicken upside down in |
|
public was removed from the updated ordinance. |

Thanks for posting these Kathy. A couple of weeks ago Jesse |
|
Feathers posted concerning the City of Mobile Rooster Ban on the |
|
FB page. I posted an article from AL.com that I believe that |
|
recapped everything. I tagged you in the post since you were |
|
instrumental in that fight. I am not sure if you saw it because |
|
every now and then someone can tag me and I don't get the |
|
notification. |
