Moon Vines

A nice vine to use to add a nice aroma and beautiful evening
flowers while you watch your flock retire in the evening is the
Moon flower. Adds a barrier and flowers. run in hardware cloth
or chicken wire around gutters, lattice work. it runs and
climbs, but the nice part it dies back every year.
March and April are the times to get the seeds in the ground.
You don't want to start them in a pot, as their roots are very
thin and don't transplant well.
I also like to soak my seeds on wet paper towels to start
germination and then plant. They will start blooming August
through freeze. Now I'm South of I10 so my dates are usually
later blooming.
And in the winter when they die, let the seed pods dry on the
vine and harvest the seeds. If some drop to the ground, just
let them stay, many times they come back next year!
Ill post pictures as my transition occurs this year. Post yours
if you have Moon Flower seeds. Great pass alongs
Happy Chicken Gardening

I purchased some Moon Vine seeds a few weeks a go and have not
attempted to do anything with them yet. Thank you for the
information regarding germination. I am hoping they will make a
lovely addition to my garden.

Well after further reviews they may be toxic and would recommend
placing in areas they cant get to
To avoid any concerns but still give nice aroma

I have some new seeds this year but I have had moon vines in the
past. At dusk, go out and watch them open. It is a slow process
but you can actually see the flowers untwist and spiral open.

Just in case... I started a post for plants to try to avoid in
your landscape.
