| Day pen/play pen | |
| By: karen Date: February 23, 2018, 9:20 pm | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| This is my day pen that I keep close to the house for very young | |
| chicks who are still in my spare bathroom most of the time. The | |
| measurements are roughly 24 in square by 18 in tall. It took one | |
| roll of hardware cloth, cable ties, the three hole PVC pipe | |
| Corner fittings, and the pipe glue. The bottom is open. After | |
| folding over the wire on the top, I cut another piece to fill | |
| in. Then I cut a hatch. I folded the rough edges to the inside | |
| so I wouldn't scratch my arms. I usually drape a blanket or | |
| towel over one corner, to give them shade. The waterer also goes | |
| in the shade. If I plan to leave the chicks out until dusk, I | |
| put a kitty litter bucket, turned on its side, in the pen. They | |
| will go in the bucket at dusk. Then I can pick up the bucket, | |
| keeping it as level as possible and bring them all back inside. | |
| I do not leave food out there | |
| overnight.[IMG] | |

| brick or board across the top to keep the hatch cover closed. | |
| Since I ws sitting outside, I hadn't done it | |
| yet.[IMG] | |
