The National Poultry Improvement Plan is a cooperative industry,
state and federal program that focuses on improving the health
and quality of poultry and poultry products throughout the
United States. Participation in the NPIP program is voluntary
and in Alabama there is no charge to the individual. However,
most states require NPIP compliance if you are going to produce,
sell and SHIP fertile hatching eggs or baby chicks out of state.
The State of AL requires you become NPIP certified as an
Independent Hatchery and purchase a 10.00 Hatchery Permit every
year. In the link below you will find more information
concerning the NPIP program in AL and contact information to set
up an inspection.
