LJL - How it's made, from A - Z?
By: mihaig Date: February 14, 2017, 2:57 am

Hello to everyone!!
I'm new on this forum and also in electronics. I read a few
pages from this forum but there is a lot of information and it
is quite difficult for me to find what I want.
I would love to do a LJL, but can not find a procedure to show
the entire process of making an LJL.
Please, can someone help me with a scheme or a link where it
shows the entire process?
Any help is welcome!
Thank you very much and please excuse my english!!
Regards,
Mihai!

I made a very small version of the LJL the other day. Its
called the xsm (for extra small) I took half of a ferrite cable
choke core and wound 100 turns of 30awg, then 27 turns in the
same direction with 26 awg wire. Very small and worked very
well. Super simple and now 120 v LED bulbs are a buck!
Efficiency doesn't show up until the second and subsequent bulbs
are added. One 6w bulb by itself draws 7-8 watts. By the time
you add the second, third and so on, the bulbs are bright and
drawing less than rated watts and far less than if you use an
inverter.
Wind both primary and secondary in the same direction. The
start wires are twisted together and tied to the power
transistor. The other end of primary goes to battery + or
dimmer. The other end of the secondary goes to the LED bulb.
Base goes to LED bulb, and emitter goes to battery - . No
screeching off this circuit. Nice startup and modest warmth on
the transistor.

Hi,
My friend requested me to build this small version of LJL for
his 24VDC solar setup. Any input as to the number of primary and
secondary turns will be greatly appreciated.
Kindly take note of the attached image which says 100 turns
primary, 27 turns secondary. I'm a bit confused because my
previous notes reflects 100 turns secondary.
Thanks
