Off grid solar shower/outhouse

Thought I'd post a pic of our solar shower house. I framed it
with standard 2X4 and used a concrete based siding. We found a
shower at Home depot that had a slight crack in tue pan. Super
quick fix and we were in business. The toilet is a 30 gallon
plastic barrel. We had six of them from a construction job so I
built the whole affair around that its dimension. To help with
any odor (which is slight) I first made an air tight box and cut
a small vet in one side low on the box. On the other side I
installed a 10 foot lenght of 2 in. ABS. It heats in the sun and
creates a draught which vents any smell. After a poo you toos in
a handfull of sawdust. We run worms in it too to decompose and
process. Two of us use it for around 3 months before a switch
out for a new barrel. Works great.
Heat and showering. BEWARE. These things get hot! Scalding hot.
Be sure to test your water. You have been warned. This Spring we
had a warmer day that melted a plastic shampoo bottle. It is not
insulated at all and looses all solar gain in an hour after
sundown. This could be remedied by adding solar collecting mass
to radiate heat longer. Some sort of retractable roof would be a
must too.
More photos will follow
