CME stands for coronal mass ejection. It's when a large mass of
the sun whips off the sun's surface breaking free of the sun's
gravity and heads out into the solar system. It is made up of
highly charged particies that are tightly woven in a
magnetically bound wind. This stuff heads out at
500,000-600,000 mph. It can cause the auroras or worse case can
knock out satellites, communications or ground based electrical
systems as happened in the Carrington event of 1859.
Some of these CME's are many times larger than the Earth.
Makes you feel small.
This was to be one of the larger solar maximums that occur every
22 years. This cycle has been fairly quiet up until this week.
There was another X flare today. X flares are proton blasts
that reach Earth at the speed of light and don't need to be
directly earth facing. The guy that does the video I posted
postulates that the heightened pressure from the Sun can cause a
higher risk of earthquakes. He may be right. He is predicting
large Earthquakes if the Sun keeps up these blasts of the past
couple days.
Interesting to watch and see if there is correlation. He is
warning about the Cascadia Fault, New Madrid and Los Angeles
area as well as areas around Japan.

The next CME to hit will be about 6am EST tomorrow morning. The
first one hit at 8pm this evening. The sun has released two
more moderate CMEs today which will be inbound in about 48
hours. These CME and flares have been pretty constant for
several days now.
Interesting to watch if there is a correlation between the solar
wind and Earthquakes. I remember a weather forecaster in the
1970's (Harry Geiss) based his predictions on the solar cycles
and was laughed at. I remember mentioning to my 6th grade
teacher it looked like the continents fit together like a jig
saw puzzle and she scoffed.
Good to keep a watchful and open mind.

doesn't the magnetic field deflect them.?
So maybe the flares deform the magnetic field and that might
cause a magnetic shift that could cause earthquakes? I cant see
that happening unless it has some effect on the current flow of
the magma.
