For the modding side project I did, I did spend time listening
to several versions of that theme. I ended up going with the
Castlevania Judgement version because I wanted the music to
sound consistent.

So during Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, the true final boss Chaos
is revealed to be the source of power for Dracula. The second
form has 4 eyes that when taken out, lower the core's defences.
Also an invincible dragon that moves around as well. If you're
strong enough, you can just attack the core to finish the fight.
Re-watching that fight a week or so ago actually managed to help
me move forward in my side project because the Gold Arena's
final boss uses a similar premise for it's first form.
Now that I think about it, and considering that Lunar Shadow is
designed after Castlevania, maybe the Confusion Zone could
reference Aria of Sorrow's Chaotic Realm?

For now, it's mostly just me gathering small ideas while I
finish the side project (which won't get it's own thread until
I'm finished with it),
So far we've got:

[li]I've considered redesigning Mechanto Force's battle forms.
Instead of being faster versions of the first 3 bosses, the boss
has an original design (it's forms have the same colours) and
uses the attacks of the first 3 bosses. (Missiles for War
Machine, fire for Diamond Dogs and the Nega Rainbow Beam/Laser
Planes for Big Boy). And yes, you'll still fight the full 7
forms in Mechanto Mode.[/li]
[li]An item that allows you to peacefully deal with bosses. I
figured if the final boss was going to give the good ending by
you sparing them, then having a concept that enforces this would
make it easier. Dealing with bosses peacefully allows you to
complete the area and access the next sector; you won't obtain
that boss's weapon unless you fight them. It won't work on the
final bosses or the EX bosses.[/li]

Looking good. I won't be joining DRPF just yet because there's a
lot I want to do such as finishing Cave Story mods. Side project
is going well. All bonus dungeon bosses have been scripted. The
rewards are all obtainable. I'm currently testing out the
Platinum Arena (which yes I will be using copies of the boss
maps for.) Also got dialogue to write and things to change. It's
going well.

I sure she understands. Depending on the character, you might
easily surpass that number or fail to meet it. For example,
Renko Hikawa is a rather obscure so finding of images of her
would be hard. Wheras a character like Madoka Kaname would be
easier because she's more well known.
In regards to bosses, there is one last one I need to get done
for the side project. You'll know who they are when you fight
them.
EDIT: Also the weather seems to have improved on my side, it's
now sunny! Yay.

So slight change of plans, I will be using this thread for the
same purpose as Gun.
Status:
Bronze Arena: Complete but I need to fix a bug where Aidan
refuses to show up.
EDIT: Moved the script up a bit and the fight is somehow
completely functional.
Silver Arena: Mostly functional though a few things need to
ironed out.
Gold Arena: Mostly functional.
Platinum Arena: Final boss is unfinished but all other fights
are done.
Digital Boundary: Mostly complete
Challenge Area: First two areas done. Third in progress.

All 4 maps for the Challenge area are complete. I just need to
test them and then either go back to the Arenas or the Digital
Boundary.

I decided to add a second bonus dungeon called the Unknown
Distortion. It consists of three difficult platforming segments
with spikes broken up with harder versions of the final bosses
from the first three arenas and various lore about the main
antagonist of the Digital Boundary. This also means that the
Platinum Arena now has three fights added it to so it now has 8
boss fights in total.

Ended up nerfing the Deathorb Mk: II's final phase and Nemesis &
Invidia's HP totals to 400HP to 300HP and from 1000 to 777HP
respectively. All boss fights are followed by a short interlude
section before the next section.
The basic layout of Unknown Distortion:

[li]Graveyard (Flamberge Soul EX)[/li]
[li]Graveyard (Exit 2)[/li]
[li]Soul Shrine[/li]

Unlock requirements are also changed. Completing Digital
Boundary rewards you with the Aegis Guard and Zero's Lament,
which unlock the Unknown Distortion which now houses the Golden
Life Capsule and Platinum Matrix, which is required to unlock
the Platinum Arena. The boss lineup was also updated to include
the bosses fought in the Unknown Distortion. The item
distribution is balance out so both dungeons give a useful item
and a bonus item.

So a lot of changes have taken place between the last time I
updated this thread and now.
I can confirm the following:

[li]Unknown Distortion was heavily reworked into Secernated
Space, which are remixed versions of rooms from Lunar Shadow
that weren't part of the Digital Boundary. In this dungeon, you
now to to collect a Nega Green Rosary to break the seal and
defeat the stage boss.[/li]
[li]The Unknown Distortion bosses were removed because they
didn't add anything meaningful to the mod, so the Platinum Arena
is now back to just the Digital Boundary bosses and the boss of
Secernated Space. Additionally, there will be a Diamond Arena
which allows you to refight all of the previous arena final
bosses in sequence.[/li]
[li]I've also been doing a lot of polishing and fix-ups, and I
will probably need to more before I can release the mod. [/li]
[li]So far, I only need to create a few sampled tracks, do some
touch ups here and there, and also and finish work on an arena
exclusive boss.[/li]
