Now I'm thinking of that song from 1959 by the Kingston Trio.

By the way, did I tell you that lately my hearing was (still is)
degrading rather quickly.
Therefore, I had to design and built a hearing aid circuit to
hear someone taking to me (since I am broken, I couldn't afford
buying a ready-made one costing around 300 dollars).
Mine cost a few dollars only but since I made it in a hurry it
doesn't suit well the actual way that my ears can detect the
audio frequency spectrum.
Now, I try to design a simple pure-tone audiometry that covers
the spectrum from 20 to 20,000 Hz by 120 frequencies (though, in
my case, 50 of those 120 frequencies are enough which cover 300
to 5,000 Hz). Then by testing my ears with it, I will have a
good technical idea on the actual characteristics (sensitivity
versus frequency) of my ears. And I will be able, therefore, to
design and build a hearing aid that suits well my actual ears,
and it will likely cost a few tens of dollars only.

[/quote]Good luck with that. It's good you know what you're
doing. I'd be lost trying to do something like that.
