Abrahams Gospel
By: Dave Date: June 14, 2023, 9:51 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Gals 3vs 8 had me musing on what was the Gospel preached to
Abraham in relation to the gospel that is preached today, the
gospel to Abraham was not about where one goes when you die, but
of the promise of God, and was concerning the Gods I wills
and the Seed and the Land.
Abram was an unlightened one living in Babylon ( Confusion)
Babylon is the place of reasoning by the carnal mind, the Lord
says Get thee out which is our walk of faith to, Abram just
leaves, no repentance, no sacrifice of shedding of blood, no
join a solid church in fact he is told to leave his kindred
behind, how different would scripture have been if he had left
Lot!!!!
His faith walk could go no further until his old man (father)
died, Paul tells us a lot about dying daily as a prerequisite
for the inheritance.
Get thee out leads us to see what Abraham looked for.
We are called for more than the mansion I believe.

Greetings Dave,[quote author=Dave
link=topic=1572.msg34283#msg34283 date=1686754280] Gals 3vs 8
had me musing on what was the Gospel preached to Abraham in
relation to the gospel that is preached today, the gospel to
Abraham was not about where one goes when you die, but of the
promise of God, and was concerning the Gods I wills and the
Seed and the Land.
When Lot separated Abram was promised
the Land in the following terms:
Genesis 13:14-15 (KJV): 14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after
that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and
look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and
eastward, and westward: 15 For all the land which thou seest, to
thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
The Land was promised to Abraham and his seed and you quote
Galatians 3:8 concerning the fact that the gospel was preached
to Abraham and Paul goes on to define who is the specific "seed"
of the promise of the Land:
Galatians 3:16 (KJV): Now to Abraham and his seed were the
promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of
one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
The seed is Christ and we can be included in this promise if we
believe in the Gospel and are baptised by water into Christ:
Galatians 3:26-29 (KJV): 26 For ye are all the children of God
by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been
baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew
nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male
nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be
Christs, then are ye Abrahams seed, and heirs according to the
promise.
Get thee out leads us to see what Abraham looked for. We
are called for more than the mansion I believe.
Yes,
the Gospel preached to Abraham and preached by Jesus and the
Apostles speaks of resurrection and inheritance of the Land
during the 1000 years of the Kingdom, an abiding place in the
Spiritual Temple or House of God and the Literal Temple of the
Age to Come, not immortal pagan philosophy souls going to
mansions in heaven when we die. Man is mortal and returns to the
dust until the resurrection.
Kind regards
Trevor
Some may see his leaving his father behind as failure to
honor his father. What if his father needed his help later? I
agree with the opinion that his father, a creator of idols, was
no longer his "true" father when Abram heard and obeyed God.
God became his parents.
Lot? Ever notice that somehow the "seed of the woman" gets
involved? Lot had children with his two daughters; and the
male descendants from those two tribes were off limits by the
Law of Moses. We see, however, that women from both tribes
married into Israel and became ancestresses of the royal line.
My belief is that the male lines of these cursed tribes were so
spiritually insane, they could never be brought back to sanity.
But the women could change more easily and become part of Israel
by rejected idolatry and accepting God as Ruth did.

TrevorL and Kerry , appreciate the input, in my walk the 'seed
of the woman' is one who sticketh closer than a brother, Mr T'L
you are a man very well versed in the scriptures. I would differ
on your 'water baptism' as a requirement, but that's a whole
different ball game.
Back to our man Ab, [emoji1] no water in his 'God news gospel'
hey TrevorL, Jesus gospel started for the disciples with 'Come
follow me ;Abraham's call was "Get thee out of thy 'country',
and from thy 'kindred', and from thy 'fathers'
house----------------"
God's call to 'come' on the journey of faith, like Abraham, for
Helen and I involved all three of these things in the natural,
little did we know of the seed life Christ within and the
promised land, the realm of the Spirit for a possession that
unlocks all of Gods "I Wills" Abraham I think had 7, after his
father died, he left his country 'Babylon behind', his
kindred, 'self works' his fathers house ' Adamic nature' he then
had the assurance that he had received the righteousness of God
by believing God's Word, " now if a man works, his wages are not
counted as a gift, but a fair reward, But if a man, irrespective
of his work, has faith in him who justifies the sinful, then
that man's faith is counted as righteousness, now that's the
really good news of Abrahams gospel.
One of my fav' verses before the closing of the eyelids," For
the mountains shall depart, the hills be removed;but my kindness
shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of my
peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee'

link=topic=1572.msg34291#msg34291 date=1686975476] Mr T'L you
are a man very well versed in the scriptures.
Possibly I
am familiar with the simple, clear teaching of the Scripture,
nothing profound as even our young Sunday School scholars
understand the promise concerning Eve's seed, the promises to
Abraham and the promises to David and justification by faith.
I would differ on your 'water baptism' as a requirement,
but that's a whole different ball game.
Yes, I believe in
water baptism and often use the examples of the Samaritans and
the Eunuch in Acts 8.

by faith.
the promised land, the realm of the Spirit for a

was told to look NSEW and this is the Land promised and Christ,
Abraham and the faithful will inherit this land during the 1000

Im just sliding on here
@Trevort
Dave said the promised land, the realm of the Spirit for a
possession
You said - . Abraham was told to look NSEW and this is the
Land promised and Christ, Abraham and the faithful will inherit
this land during the 1000 years.
In scripture we see the promised land as a true type of God
Himself . The Bible is full of types and shadows , spiritual
meanings of God Kingdom . Like in Romans 1:20 - The
invisible things of God ..are clearly seen being understood by
the things that are made .
Ie a tree is more that just a tree in the Bible , Psalms show
that it represent man etc nothing just is God says He
continually speaks through His creation
So in Num 18:20 we see when Israel was receiving their parts
of land .the Levites are given no inheritance in the land as
God says- I Am thy portion and thy inheritance
God Himself IS our promised land. Ez 44 :28 again echos
this.
Im not quite sure what people expect when the Bible says our
rewards shall be according to our works ( rewards are something
totally different to our salvation experience . ) ,.Gold ,
silver and precious stones , or wood , hay and stubble .
Do people take this literally noWe are shown in scripture that
the very nature of God is represented by gold.
Solomons temple , the ark of the covenant covered inside and
outside with pure gold representing God Himself in all His
glory Silver representing redemption etcetc
Eph 1:18 .know the hope of HIS calling and what is the riches
of His glory , His inheritance in the saints
He is our inheritance , we are His inheritance
He in us and we in Him..
And my favourite - Psalm 16:5
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup
This is the verse God spoke to me 48 years ago..when we got rid
of our house in England , gave away all our furniture and
possessions, packed two cases each with clothes and necessities
, and came to Canada as He has spoken .
He has never let us down . He alone is everything , we have
lacked nothing
Yet now and again whenever I need the prod - He prods me
and asks Am I Enough ?
YES .He is more than enough

Staying with Genesis 13:14-15 I consider that this defines the
Land of Promise that Abraham and Christ were promised and Christ
will share this with the immortal faithful after they are
resurrected at the return of Jesus.
I was taught this in my youth, as we had a Sunday School teacher
who used to quote Genesis 13:14-15 and then Galatians
3:8,16,26-29. It seemed to be his favourite Scriptures, for a
period of time at least. He used to also give the occasional
Sunday evening lecture for interested friends and I had not
particularly noticed that he included these verses in his talk,
partly as my concentration was not very good. On one occasion I
was sitting next to a mate, and he noticed towards the end of
the talk that our SS teacher paused, and then my mate dug me in
the ribs with his elbow and whispered before the speaker "Now in
conclusion we will turn to Genesis 13:14-15". This prompt and
dig in the ribs etched into my memory, both the occasion and the
verses. This taught me that on this occasion that Abraham looked
for an inheritance in the Land, and the result was that he
believed in the resurrection, not heaven going. About 3 years
ago I asked my mate if he could remember this incident nearly 60
years ago and he stated that he did not remember, neither could
he particularly remember those verses. I also asked our SS
teacher's son and daughter if they could recall their father
teaching these verses and their answer was that they could not
remember.
Is a tree is more that just a tree in the Bible , Psalms
show that it represent man etc nothing just is God says He

careful to distinguish between the literal and the figurative in
every context.

For my part I see it as crucial that when the Lord gives a
promise, show one an inheritance, reveals dimensions never seen
before, that we enter into and walk out the full length and
breadth of his imparted vision Gen 13:17.

@Trevort ..good story Re your Sunday school years I too
enjoyed mine also. As children we were sent to the Brethren
Church , it was a very good foundation to faith , but, as in the
Spiritual realm also , we grow, broaden the tent and continue
the journey.
I am forever thankful to the Lord for all the faithful Bible
teachers that the Lord has sent across my path, lo these many
years .. ..teaching line upon line , precept upon precept
.blessed indeed.
When reading Paul , we see clearly that God didnt give
anyone ( but Jesus) the whole picture , the body of Christ ,
Paul shows us , is made up of many members. Not everyone is the
eye , not everyone is the ear No one person has all the truth
or can see everything , but together we have it all. Praise God
.

Re your Sunday school years I too enjoyed mine also. As
children we were sent to the Brethren Church , it was a very
good foundation to faith
I am not exactly sure what
sequence we were given in those days, but we never had any
notes. These days we have three levels, Junior, Intermediate and
Senior, and a five year rotation, 3 OT years, 2 NT years
(Christ's Ministry, the Apostles' Ministry) and we also have
notes with each lesson at that these three levels and questions
for the students at the end of each lesson for homework. As such
for say 4y.o. to 19y.o. our students get a good overall
education of the Bible and almost prepares them for their
confession of faith and baptism in water and membership of our
meeting. Individuals are usually prepared for baptism by private
tuition after this. Two of my young distant cousins were
baptised last Monday.
I attend the older class which has been studying the Book of
Revelation for a number of years, and we have just finished
chapter16, the events leading up to the establishment of the
Kingdom of God and now commenced chapter 17 the judgements on
the Roman Catholic Church and those that support this system.
but, as in the Spiritual realm also , we grow, broaden

until we grow into the perfect man, the body of Christ. We
should be careful what we absorb and hold on to.
