Carlo Ancelotti back as Real Madrid's coach.
Zidane had resigned claiming a lack of support and faith in him
by the club:
https://en.as.com/en/2021/05/31/football/1622417445_986023.html
His record:

Real went trophyless this season.
Where to next after some time off? Coach of France (Didier
Deschamps hangs in there) or one of its clubs?
The real test is what one can do with a middling club, one that
doesn't have a bunch of superstars, like the coaches do at
Leicester, for example, winning an FA Cup or the EPL title.

Gone.
El Clasicos won't seem the same.
A fiery competitor but also a "red-card" player who appeared to
want to put a hurt on some opponents like Lionel Messi. Won't
miss him for the dirt if he's gone from La Liga altogether.

This much minus 10%:
Sergio Ramos earns 338,000 per week, 17,576,000 per year
playing for R. Madrid as a D (C). Sergio Ramos's net worth is
122,668,000. Sergio Ramos is 34 years old and was born in
Spain. His current contract expires June 30, 2021.:
https://salarysport.com/football/player/sergio-ramos/
I think that Ramos hurt himself in part by stating a couple of
times his wish to leave and then assuming he'd be treated with
"white gloves" because of his legacy with the club. Monetarily,
I don't feel too bad for entertainers making that sort of money.
Yes, injuries and rarely death in sport, but they're not
front-line workers in ICUs who make a lot less.

[/quote]How did this all start? I can remember two or three
times hearing on the BBC about the brewing problem, but I never
caught what Ramos' issue was originally. I see from the site
you gave us that his pay went down; but didn't everyone's?
Isn't he still making more money than he can spend? And when I
heard that he was interested in moving to another European club,
that suggested that money wasn't the issue -- unless he's hoping
for a deal with PSG like Neymar's. I doubt that. I didn't
think it was money.
Then I wondered who his agent was. Looking for that, I found a
story that quoted his former agent.
https://www.football-espana.net/2021/06/19/sergio-ramos-former-agent-speak-out-…
Many have spoken and written about Sergio and Rene Ramos in
these past few days, ever since the formers departure from Real
Madrid was made official after 16 years at the club. Now,
according to Marca, a former representative of Sergios has
spoken out against the pair.
Pedro Bravo was the man who brokered the deal back in the summer
of 2005 that saw Ramos leave Sevilla for Madrid for a fee of
27m, right at the end of the transfer window. Now president of
a Spanish association dedicated to football agents, he didnt
hold his tongue when criticising the conduct of the Ramos
brothers.
He who brought Sergio Ramos to Real Madrid 16 years ago would
never have allowed him to leave as he has, because there would
have never been so much tension in the negotiations nor
blackmails, leaks or accidental expiration, he wrote on
Twitter. There would have been dialogue and professionalism.
Real Madrid arent to be ignored!
The chief issue of the negotiations was the format of the
contract. Ramos wanted a multi-year option, while Madrid wanted
to give him the single-year deal they felt a 35-year-old
merited. Ramos ultimately caved after a long standoff and
accepted the one-year deal, only for Madrid to reveal it had
been taken off the table; they had put an expiration date on it,
and the Ramos brothers had either not noticed it or ignored it.
It doesn't make sense to me to think he really wanted to leave.
If he wanted a multi-year contract, that meant he wanted to play
at Real Madrid for several more years.
I also don't see why he and his brother wouldn't have seen why
the club was reluctant to sign a longer term contract. He is
not elderly, but he's getting up there when age becomes a
factor.

I put it all down to gamesmanship. Ramos has been around long
enough to see how Real operates with its hiring and firing of
coaches let alone players. He had the prime example of a
discontented Zidane who left on poor terms the second go-round.
It appears to be a clash of big egos and there can only be one
alpha apparently. We'll see what the Madridistas bring to the
stadium about it come the new season (August).
Ya, 35, but athletes these days manage. Zlatan's still playing
for top clubs at what, 39? Buffon, now with Parma in Serie A, is
43. Cristiano's 36.
Athletes appear to be fitter now than in the "old days" where
many smoked, went out for many beers with teammates after
matches, partied, etc, etc.. Now it's all about nutrition,
working out, sports medicine, etc.. All that other stuff's left
for the fans now mostly, hic :).

Well, they went into Goliath's Santiago Bernabeu and came out
victors!
I can just see Real Madrid looking out the windows on the bus
ride from the airport in Tiraspol on the return leg saying,
"What the . . . . . ?"
Sheriff 2 Real Madrid 1.

Well, Real did it!
Down 1 - 0 on aggregate to PSG, they stormed back in the 2nd leg
of their UEFA Champions League contest with a treble by Kerim
Benzema to win 3 - 2 and knock PSG out of the contest. All of
Benzema's goals were scored in the second 45'. Amazing. Job done
at the Bernabeu. This club has always played with heart in this
league.
They find a way to win in this league with their experience and
skills. The winningest club in its history.
I don't feel sorry for PSG. They are loaded with top players for
which they pay a fortune. Messi left his heart in Barcelona,
Neymar underperformed. Mbappe was the best by far out there for
them and I hear he wants to play for Real next. Neither am I too
sorry for Mauricio Pochettino who won nothing at Tottenham and
for some reason fell into this job.
PSG were in this contest's semifinal and final on two separate
occasions and couldn't win. Here they're knocked out of the
Round of 16 this time with a clawback win by their opponents.
I feel sorry for Marco Verratti. He tries so very hard in
midfield.
So now, who can stop Real?

Ya, no excuses for Man City. Pep's been with them long enough.
Time has come (today) :P.
Their problem is handling a decent counter-attack as was clearly
shown by what Spurs did to them by Son and Kane. Pep had no
answer for it since the goals weren't going in for him even
though Spurs' 5 at the back were being breached. Pep ought to
have Chelsea's defence.
