| But if the Lord is God, wouldn't he be the concern of all, | |
| twinc? | |
|
would these words be by the Word of God
| |
| It would depend upon what those words would be, good chap. | |
|
if so exactly who is the Word of God - twinc
|
| |
| That would be Jesus the Messiah, the Word become flesh. | |
| John 1:14 NAB:RE | |

| What run around, twinc? I've been traveling pretty much in a | |
| straight line in this thread. :) | |
|
would you agree that JESUS spoke the words at Ex 20:1-4

|
| |
| No, good chap. The text doesn't say that. | |

| oh Holland - I am gettijng old trying to pass on what I must - | |
| so I must not run about too much - so so far you have agreed | |
| that the Word of God is Jesus - so could this same Word of God | |
| more than likely have spoken at Ex 20:1-4 when He gave Moses the | |
| ten commandments - twinc | |

| oh Holland - I am gettijng old trying to pass on what I must - | |
| so I must not run about too much -
| |
| That's good, twinc. We must conserve ourselves as we get older. | |
| We must seek to do what we must and insure that we have the | |
| energy and focus to do so. We must pass on what we must as we | |
| enter the twilight of our lives. | |
|
so so far you have agreed that the Word of God is
| Jesus
| |
| I agree. That is in keeping with John 1:14. | |
|
- so could this same Word of God more than likely have
| spoken at Ex 20:1-4 when He gave Moses the ten commandments - | |
| twinc | |
|
| |
| Now your language is more precise, good chap. You are now | |
| making more effective distinctions. We could state that Ex | |
| 20:1-4 is the declaration of the Word of God in written form. | |
| The passage identifies, though, that God is making the | |
| commandments. This means something deeper exists. | |
| John 1:1-5 New International Version - UK (NIVUK) | |
| 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and | |
| the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through | |
| him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has | |
| been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all | |
| mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness | |
| has not overcome[a] it. | |

| But none of this is mentioned in the time of Exodus. This means | |
| that we must not confuse categories in the interpretation of | |
| Scripture. We must not read into the passage meanings that were | |
| not at the time intended to be put there by God. The Jewish | |
| Scriptures are to be primarily interpreted in their normative | |
| Jewish meaning. | |
| We may observe that Jesus is speaking inasmuch as he is divine | |
| and the Word of God made flesh in Exodus 20:1-4. But this is | |
| not because of the passage of Exodus 20, but because of John 1. | |
| We need to adhere to the literal sense and not let any sensus | |
| plenior meanings overcome the original meanings of the text. | |
| Category errors make for a lot of confusion in biblical | |
| interpretation. | |
