Zlatan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's first goal for LA Galaxy was dramatic, of
course. It looked rigged to me. I'm not why management risked
a loss; but I think they deliberately left the LA team to lag so
when Zlatan was put in, it would be more dramatic. Was it a
crazy move to keep him out of the game so long? Maybe, but it
worked. Or were they reluctant to let him play because of the
recent knee injury?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-lafc-galaxy-20180331-story.html
Trailing by two goals with less than 20 minutes to play
Saturday, the Galaxy were circling the drain when the sellout
crowd at StubHub Center began chanting the name of the team's
newest player.
So Zlatan Ibrahimovic stripped off his warmups, strode toward
the midfield stripe and was subbed into the game.
First goal -- the goalkeeper for Los Angeles Football Club is
caught completely off guard, and that made the score 3:3.

Here's a longer look with all the goals -- another goal by
Zlatan gave the Galaxy the win.

Sports Illustrated has a story about how he got to LA Galaxy.
So money isn't everything?
https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/04/03/insider-zlatan-ibrahimovic-china-offer-rea…
How much money did Zlatan Ibrahimovic turn down to sign with the
LA Galaxy instead of going to China? A whopping $97 million, Im
told.
According to Jovan Kirovski, the LA Galaxy technical director
who did the most work to sign Ibrahimovic, the big Swede had a
multiyear offer from China even after his knee injury that would
have paid him $100 million total. Instead Ibra chose the Galaxy,
which can only pay him $3 million over two years since hes a
TAM player on a team whose Designated Player slots are all
filled.
Kirovski said the hardest part of the deal was explaining to
Ibras superagent, Mino Raiola, why he could only pay Ibra $1.5
million a year. Raiolas first response was: Are you serious?
But Ibra in the end decided he didnt need the money at this
stage of his career. Kirovski swears, by the way, that there
arent any side deals from Galaxy sponsors to sweeten the pot
for Zlatan.
Kirovski said he first made contact with Ibra while the player
was still with PSG, and in total he met with Zlatan a half-dozen
times in Europe (in Paris and Manchester) and on additional
occasions in Los Angeles to build a relationship. Four months
ago, Kirovski said, Ibrahimovic told him the Galaxy deal was
going to happen.

Hardly rigged, Kerry. I watched the match and it wasn't for a
lack of effort that LAFC lost. This is a "crosstown" rivalry -
- a "darby" as the British call it. Rivalries between teams in
the same city or slightly wider, geographical areas are usually
intense with each wanting to outdo the other. They've called the
one between the Galaxy and LAFC "El Traffico" and you might
guess why.
Ibrahimovic was eased into the game as any new players are on
many teams. I don't know that at 36-years-of age he's expected
to start and run for an hour or more. He's certainly a lot
slower now. He has to rely on his height (6'5") and arsenal of
trickery and tricky he can be. Sigi was probably holding him in
reserve for moments like this. Remember, before Ibra scored his
stunners, the Galaxy had managed to claw two goals back from
excellent efforts. Surely, the new club under coach Bradley
would not have wanted to be humiliated as they were. They had
gone three up and with three up you pretty much have the match
in the bag.
Ibrahimovic's first goal was magical. Sure, the keeper was off
his line but take a gander at Ter Stegen here between the sticks
for the blaugrana who got scored on by the Roman, Alessandro
Florenzi in a Champions League match a couple of years ago. Ter
Stegen is considered to be one of the best custodians in the
game. If it isn't Manuel Neuer in goal for Die Mannschaft, it's
Ter Stegen:

It happens from time to time. Zlatan's goal was magnificent. Not
all players would attempt it, let alone drop it into the net
from that distance. The commentators on Fox Sports were beside
themselves with amazement. I was chuckling as they were yelling.
I've seen it before in Europe. This is what great footballers
do. Watch Cristiano's bicycle kick goal v Juventus this week.
When asked about it, Zlatan said that Cristiano ought to have
scored this way out from forty meters (as Zlatan had).

Ibra could be at the whole thing like a vacation.

the hero can come in at the last minute to rescue everyone. I
thought Zlatan needed a white horse to arrive on. :D

Talk about pressurizing himself . . . . .
Zlatan says it wouldn't be a World Cup without him there:
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken over the United States since his
recent move to the L.A. Galaxy, and he appears ready to return
to international play in time to help Sweden at the World Cup.
"I mean, a World Cup without me wouldn't be a World Cup,"
Ibrahimovic said Tuesday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
Hey @jimmykimmellive You're welcome

 Zlatan Ibrahimović (@Ibra_official) April 18, 2018
When asked if he would play in the World Cup, Ibrahimovic was
coy, saying he was going to the competition, but failed to
specify whether or not he'd be playing.
"I just said I'm going to the World Cup," Ibrahimovic said. "If
I say more, people will hang me, so I have to be careful what I
say now.
"In Europe, the football is huge, is big, so wherever I went ...
people get crazy," Ibrahimovic said. "People told me, 'When you
get to Los Angeles, don't worry. You can walk on the streets out
there.' But since day one, no, it's busy everywhere. It's my own
fault if you play the way I do, I mean.":

Some might be unhappy that he didn't take part in the
qualifiers. Maybe as Jimmy Kimmel suggested, he'll go as a
spectator.

A goalkeeper in the Sweden national side does not agree that
Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be included the squad for the 2018
World Cup.
Ibrahimovic retired from international football after the 2016
European Championships, having registered 62 goals in 116
appearances for the national side.
The 36-year-old recently claimed he would entertain the idea of
going to the World Cup, although Sweden's first choice
goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson feels he shouldn't.
"It's up to the coach to see if he wants to bring him.
"We managed to qualify and go through to the World Cup without
him, and I think we can manage to play well at the World Cup
without him.
"But as I said, it's up to the coach to decide if he wants him
to join, and I'm sure if he does join, he will play well."
"As a team, we play as a collective, all the players together.
"With Zlatan, as a person, as a player he's an individualist,
and the play goes around him. Instead, now, we play more with
the team all together.
"It's a different style of play when you have a player like
Zlatan, Cristiano [Ronaldo] or [Lionel] Messi in your team,
because they're world-class players, and you have to use those
players to win the game and play in a special way.
"I don't know if the coach wants such a big change, because
he'll have to change the whole system of how he wants to play.

Kerry - ^
I wouldn't like it if Zlatan replaced a player who contributed
to the qualifiers however much I'd like to see him there.
I don't agree that Barca plays differently with Messi as the
article claims. Messi isn't bigger than the Barca system. No
player is. This why Zlatan was playing for a short while with
the blaugrana. Messi and the Barca "spine" which includes the
Masia graduates playing currently are the finest exemplars of
the Barca method. It takes longer for non-Masia graduates with
Barca to fit the Barca style than most other clubs. Look at
Ousmane Dembele. Bought for over 100 million USD, he only came
into today's match v Sevilla with ten minutes to go to the end.
It takes time. At Real, all one has to do is give Cristiano the
ball to succeed :).

clinics where women can go to get their favorite sports player
to become the father of their babies. Just sign on the dotted

financially responsible for them."
