Cristiano Ronaldo News
By: Kerry Date: February 12, 2017, 4:21 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Good news and "bad news". First the good news from the
Independent
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/cristiano-ronaldo-…
/>
Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped in to help 80 dogs housed in a
shelter facing financial difficulties, according to reports in
his home country of Portugal.
The Real Madrid forward, who turned 32 last week, has often been
praised for his charity work, topping a list of the worlds most
generous athletes in 2015.
Ronaldos latest act of kindness came in response to a request
from Cantinho da Lili, a dog rescue centre based in Gouveia
which has struggled to meet veterinary bills of up to 2,000.
After a volunteer at the centre contacted a friend of Ronaldos
family, the Portugal international sent an autographed shirt to
the centre, which will now be auctioned off to raise vital
funds.
I want to thank Ronaldo from the bottom of my heart. It's a
simple gesture, but very important, Liliana Santos, one of
workers at the dog shelter, told Correrio de Mahna.
And then the "bad" news from Metro
http://metro.co.uk/2017/02/12/cristiano-ronaldo-told-a-blatant-lie-to-avoid-a-y…
Referee bias, particularly when it comes to the countrys
biggest clubs, is a hot topic in Spain.
Ignacio Iglesias did little to help matters on Saturday evening
when he showed leniency to Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrids
3-1 win away to Osasuna.
Ronaldo, who had opened the scoring for the visitors, was put
through on goal once again in the second-half but was a yard
offside.
Despite the linesman raising his flag, and Iglesias blowing his
whistle, the forward advanced on goal and attempted to chip
goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
Facing the prospect of a yellow card for dissent, Ronaldo turned
around to the referee to protest innocence.
He gave a trademark wink and indicated that he could not hear
Iglesias whistle.
Clearly in a forgiving mood, Iglesias declined to get out a card
and let Ronaldo off the hook.
Madrid went on to win the match, with second-half goals from
Isco and Lucas Vasquez helping the European champions maintain
their lead at the top of La Liga.

Cristiano's Real Madrid has drawn their old boss Carlo
Ancelotti's Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals
in about three weeks. These two monstrous teams will be like two
battering rams. The edge goes to Carlo since he knows Real very
well but Real has at least the firepower of Bayern if not more.
A monumental matchup:

The sculptor said you can't please everyone, not even Jesus
could.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/30/cristiano-ronaldo-sculptor-imp…
/>
It is impossible to please the Greeks and Trojans. Neither did
Jesus please everyone, he said. This is a matter of taste, so
it is not as simple as it seems. What matters is the impact that
this work generated. There is always the possibility of making a
difference, I was prepared for all this. I used as a base some
photos of Cristiano Ronaldo that I found on the internet,
nothing specific. I put the photos next to me and started
working on the bust.

Another hat trick!
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39611654
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to take his Champions
League tally to 100 goals as holders Real Madrid controversially
overcame Bayern Munich in extra time to reach the semi-finals.
It broke a record.
Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick made him the first player to reach
100 Champions League goals.

Congratulations, Ronaldo!
I suppose he'll take the accolades and the referees poor
decisions on two of his offside goals. However, they were bound
to come anyway sooner or later.

Cristiano scored a treble in Real Madrid's 3-0 demolition of
their crosstown rivals Athletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions
League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu yesterday. Athletico
gave a lack-lustre performance, unusual for them, leaving
Cristiano free to poach at will. Real look unstoppable as does
CR7 having tied Lionel Messi for number of games in which he has
scored the treble.
Messi's my man, but it doesn't hurt to have this punisher of
marking ineptitude in the box as the poster-boy for the
beautiful game in North America, so I applaud his goal-scoring
skill:

I still can't get over the shirts these guys wear. If it's not
Qatar, it's the Emirates.
