Ten Years to Love You

Today there was a secret to share. A secret that took a lot to
keep in.
But ten years ago, the secret hadn't even been alive. There
wasn't any amount of despair to follow a secret that was broken.
It was a pure time, but it was still so soon.
There was a new face in the life of a young woman, this face was
one of the most beautiful she'd ever seen. One she had always
dreamed of but could never find in her reality.
Lara loved to read fictional novels. Mostly the romance ones,
with the happy endings but tragic details in the middle. She
only dreamed that her 'prince' would find her one day and she
would have that happy ending for herself. And that's when 'he'
showed up. The beautiful smile, and those gorgeous eyes. Jean
was her 'masterpiece'.
The only problem?
As quickly as he came into her life, she knew he would never
'be' in her life.
Their lives faded in and out with each other for a long while.
Two to three years at first, but then he would disappear,
leaving her wonder what had happened to him. 'Was he okay?',
'Did something go wrong somewhere?', 'Did she do something
wrong?'. She wondered it for a short time, but moved on with her
life. She couldn't let herself be hung up on something she
didn't know even existed. They were only buddies after all,
nothing to major, just a crush.
Finally, he'd show up again out of the blue. Lara would say hi
once in a while, they'd start talking again, and after some more
time, maybe a couple months, she'd begun to fall for him in ways
she didn't know. His life had taken some turns and being his
'good friend', she would talk him through it. Reassure him that
he wasn't the reason. At this point though, she'd started her
own family. Taken to another man who provided for her and her
children. She would take to a quiet place and sit alone, talking
for a few hours at a time with him. Reminiscing about how they
met and all the things they used to talk to. It was fun. Her
heart melted just to talk to him.
But again...he was gone.
She was more heartbroken this time, having strengthened a bond
with him and nearly falling completely in love with him. She
would stare at his page on the computer for minutes at a time
each day for a little while, always wondering, 'did I do
something wrong again?', 'did something bad happen again?'. And
still always thinking, 'well, it will only be a little while,
he'll be back.' She hoped. Again though, she decided she'd have
to move on again.
Over the next couple more years, her life would make its
changes, and she, herself would create more life. Her newest
relationship would be a happy one, but he would always be in the
back of her mind. Wondering where he was, and how he was doing.
Her social media site would show her that his profile was still
there, but wasn't in use anymore. She always wondered why.
And then out of the blue, his contact information showed up. Her
eyes lit up and quickly she threw open a chat box, typing as
fast as her fingers would allow. Her mind was screaming, and her
heart raced. 'Was he really back?', she questioned. His response
stopped her in her tracks and she melted immediately. Ten years
had gone by since they'd met. Ten years of finding him buried in
her heart, but never being able to tell him, or talk to him
about it.
Her Prince had returned.
