Caleb Looks Back
By: Jack Date: June 23, 2025, 12:16 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I have been working on this series for months, and the first
chapter finally appeared yesterday.
https://malespank.net/viewStory.php?id=58707
If the series title sounds a bit familiar, it's because this
story features Caleb Stiles, a character who first appeared in
Skip Trace's incredible Mr. Anderson Looks Back series -
https://malespank.net/listSeries.php?show=47365.
The first five stories of that series (Caleb 1 - 5) were written
as a backstory for a character Skip really liked in another
author's series. When he decided to post it on MMSA, he changed
the name and altered some details. I have been able to read
some of the stories with the character upon whom Caleb was
based.
The thing is, the ending to the Mr. Anderson/Caleb stories tore
my heart apart. It was a great ending, and it's what the story
demanded, not to mention that, with the original character, it's
the way the story had to end. I fell in love with both Caleb as
a kid I wanted to know, and with Mr. Anderson as the teacher I'd
needed in my life. I also became friends with Skip, and, as I
got to know him, I wrote some fanfic about both of those
characters.
Skip and I were talking about a new story with some characters
from his series, when he had the epiphany that Caleb DID NOT
have the same history as the character upon whom he was based,
so there was no reason for him to wind up in the same place. As
a matter of fact, because of changes Skip had made when he
changed details for the story, where they original characters
ended didn't really make sense for Caleb anymore. When he
realized that, he said to me, ", you, (Jack Wells), are free and
have my permission to pick up where the Caleb series leaves
off. Riley ended up at the (location). Caleb could end up
anywhere ..."
That was a great deal of trust, and I was kind of scared. I
talked about it a lot with Skip, and with Adric, Zyngaru, and
Zac especially. There were a number of false starts, but I
think I finally came up with the story I wanted to tell and a
great way to tell it. I made sure it was loyal to Skip's
original story, while also keeping in mind that his story was
only what Mr. Anderson saw.
I don't have much else to say except that I think this story
might be my magnum opus. As much as I loved All-American Boy
and Central Point High School, this one develops a character I
loved and involves spanking. It's also about 114,000 words, so
definitely novel length.
Hope you all give it a try and please, let me know what you
think.

I loved it. You don't write "spanking stories"--you write
beautifully written character studies that happen to have
spankings in them. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Mr. Afinch you don't know just how true your statement is.
After Jack writes his chapters, he then thinks of where a
spanking would fit in. So, it is a story of the life of Caleb
first, with spankings added to round it out.

Sometimes a spanking is an integral part of the story, like it
was in part one of this series or Callum. Other times, as
you'll see in Ch 03 of this series, it does kind of half to be
worked in. Still, I do think the important part is the
characters. I want people to believe in them and to care about
what happens to them.

Just finished the last story, and I'm still crying which is
something that hasn't happened to me from reading anything since
I was 16. If you haven't read these stories, they are a must
read. Bravo, Jack. I don't have enough superlatives for how
really excellent this entire series is.

Thank you, Kier.
The funny thing is, this ending was a last minute decision. I
actually had something similar, but vastly different in mind up
until chapter 9 or 10. No, it was because of 10, and I decided
as I wrote 11.
[spoiler]
Originally, Caleb staying was going to be Mark's idea, and Glen
was just going to decide to let Caleb make the choice. As my
beta group (mostly Adric, Zyngaru, and Skip Trace for this
series) gave feedback, Skip said that chapter 10 'completed
Glen's redemption arc'. I hadn't realized I'd been writing one,
but going back, it was plain, but it wasn't complete, which led
to the ending we have.

Mr. Afinch. The Summer Chapter had me crying also. Every time
I read it over again, I cry. I guess you can call it being
invested in a story and its characters. I knew all through the
story this was going to happen. Heck anyone reading the story
knows it has to happen sometime and in this chapter it does, but
even knowing, I cried.
I told Jack after reading that chapter the story was over for
me. It was complete, done, finished. I had my emotional
breakdown, so it accomplished its goal. Jack of course wrote
one more chapter "Another Home" to close the story as it should
be closed filling in all the gaps.
But the chapter "Summer" will always be the highlight of that
story for me.

I do believe that Jack believes this is his best work. I
totally understand why he would believe that. Jack put a lot of
blood, sweat and tears into this story. At times it was an
emotional drain on him which I do think at times made him
physically sick. Especially the Summer Chapter or as I call it
the Heartbreak Summer chapter. It emotionally drained me just
reading it, so it had to have sucked everything out of Jack
writing it.
Jack: Feel free to put one of those spoiler things on that
paragraph if you want.
Now as good as that story is, I still count it as number two.
Number one is and forever shall be, Family Business.

You don't need an account to read stories at MMSA. There is a
new CAPTCHA you have to pass through but anyone can read
stories.
The CAPTCHA verification is available to all readers.
