Mighty Mite 2 minute warning |

Can someone explain the Mighty Mite 2 minute warning? In all of |
|
our games up until last night (Skiatook vs SS Black 1st grade), |
|
at 2 minutes or at the first dead ball under 2 minutes, the |
|
referees stopped the clock, announced the 2 minute warning, and |
|
then play resumed and the clock started on the next snap |
|
following high school clock stoppage rules from there on. |
|
Last night with SS in possession of the ball and Skiatook down |
|
3, there was no stoppage of the clock for the 2 minute warning, |
|
and when I asked the ref about it he initially told me that the |
|
clock stoppage rules don't change until under 1 minute left in |
|
the 4th (which I know was incorrect). He later said that it IS |
|
at 2 minutes but the offense had the choice to run the clock or |
|
not because of a penalty or something, I don't remember what the |
|
exact explanation was but it didn't make sense to me and the |
|
clock never stopped for a 2 minute warning. It ran straight |
|
through until we used our final timeout a play or two later with |
|
around 50 seconds left on the clock. It's my first year coaching |
|
and with any involvement in INFC and I for sure am still |
|
learning, I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the 2 |
|
minute rules until last night so just trying to make sure I've |
|
got it. Most likely had no bearing on the outcome of the game as |
|
all SS would have had to do is take one more knee to seal it, so |
|
barring a fumbled snap it wasn't going to change the game. |

3. Two (2) Minute Warning will be given at the end of the 4th |
|
quarter and regular regulation play will be in effect during |
|
this time (no running clock) |
