| Offensive lineman alignment | |

| How far off the line of scrimmage is an offensive tackle (or | |
| guard) permitted to line up? For instance, if they are around a | |
| yard behind the ball where the top of their helmet does not | |
| cross the centers waist and their hand on the ground is behind | |
| the centers feet, is that acceptable? Im seeking clarity | |
| around what constitutes a lineman being off the ball, as this | |
| seems to be applied inconsistently across games this season. | |

| Rule 2-32 in the NFHS rulebook: | |
| A back is any A player who has no part of his body breaking the | |
| plane of an imaginary line drawn parallel to the line of | |
| scrimmage through the waist of the nearest teammate who is | |
| legally on the line, except for the player under the snapper, | |
| who is also considered a back. | |
