3G Rec substitution rule

Rule #7 states that each player must play 1 uninterrupted
quarter in each half. This reads that there should be no subs
during any quarter, only subs between quarters. Can you please
confirm? We were pretty confused today during our game when subs
were allowed mid-quarter. We will adjust either way, but need to
know the rule. The ref wasnt aware of the rule. It being the
first week, everyone is learning. We also could use some 12 foot
FT markings on the floor. Otherwise its a guess.

That is the rule but that is an INBC office question, not
something the officials would be in the middle of or enforce.
it is my understanding as I used to coach as well, that you
could protest the game if someone does this. Now depending on
how many players are on your team you could sub out in the first
quarter but then anyone that comes out in the first quarter has
to play the entire 2nd quarter (if you have 10 players this is
not an option)

Thanks for the info. I think I just read the rule too black and
white. Our HC talked to a couple other Bixby reps and it makes
sense that a player who played the 1Q could sub in/out during
the 2Q as long as they sub for a player who also played the 1Q.
I guess the scorers table would have record of players playing
an entire quarter. Having 10 players would definitely make it
easy and a challenge. Probably the most important thing to
emphasize is that each player has to play an uninterrupted
quarter each half. I'm guessing that gets manipulated by coaches
more often.

I see it often when I am officiating and I do let the possible
offending coach know the game could be protested if they don't
follow the rules on substitutions but for officials that have
never coached, they understandably aren't going to really be
paying attention to that.
