Mission results 05/04/2020

Mission Transfer
Player larsresult
Date flown 4th May 2020
Results zero points. Player killed
Debrief
Took off and rendezvoused with the bombers. First time flying
the Yak1 and at dawn, making it difficult to see against the
clouds. After about 15 minutes spotted 109s sneaking in low
towards the bombers. Ordered my squadron to attack fighters.
Spent the next 20 minutes firing at and being fired on. Luckily
the 109s were not great shots but they did keep trying to get me
to stall in to the ground by vertical climbs. Every time I got
to within 20 metres at the top of the climb ready for the kill I
spun out. Thankfully the Yak 1 is one of the easiest to come out
of a spin it seems. I am sure I hit several but was attacked as
many times despite my wingman covering me. After 31 minutes a
109 finally killed me. At least I didn't lose any bombers.
Once again a mission different to others. Well chosen.

Mission Results for week of 5/04/20 thru 5/10/2020:
Member Name/callsign: E69_Haukka
Actual Mission Name: Transfer
Date single mission actually flown: 5/04/20
Results/description of mission: Mission complete
Mission Score: 350
Misc. Info if desired:
At first, when I got on my plane, I thought that I would not be
able to fly due to the darkness. But I decided to try it anyway.
I had seen the route plotted on the map and memorized it, so
when I took off I set course for about 300, trying to recognize
something down there.
I could only see the planes in my squadron,
standing out against the soft glow of dawn.
Fortunately I saw shots. The muzzle flash is
always appreciated, especially at night. I headed for the green,
blue, and red lights. There was the party. Soon I could also see
the IL2 attacking the ground, that's how I knew I was in the
right place. From here on I have only followed my instincts,
always staying as far from the ground as possible, and as close
as possible to the action. A difficult balance.
A Bf.109 releasing a long tail of black smoke was
my first victim. Then, when it seemed that everything had calmed
down, another Bf.109 appeared, in the same place where the
Ilyushin were doing their work. I was able to get behind and
drop a good dose of lead. Soon after, it became a brilliant
fireball in the landscape.
The IL2s finished their task and headed home. I
escorted them back. When they started approaching base and
landing maneuvers, new shots in the clouds forced me to gain
altitude again. Fortunately, there was more light on the clouds,
in addition to the approaching dawn. There I saw another fight.
I chased a third German fighter and shot it down.
It was time to go back to base. I got a little
lost, but soon I identified the rivers and roads on the southern
edge of the map. I headed east, found my base, and landed
without incident.
It was a mission for which I did not give a penny,
but it turned out well, much better than I expected. Finally I
must confess: I do not like night missions, I see almost
nothing.

It's very strange ... I saw everything very dark ...
I will test the same track in another version of the sim, to see
if I find something to dispel this mystery ...
**************************************
Well, I have done tests, reproducing the recording of my flight
in the dark frozen steppe, in six different versions, and the
results are conclusive: in VP Modpack, that map (Net1Winter) is
darker than in other versions.
From now on I will not fly in VP Modpack the missions that we
fly here between us, it is possible that in other maps there are
also differences with the stock maps.
You can see my test results at the link below.

Hi guys. I flew mine in BAT3.8.3 which was not as dark as Haukka
but not as light as Otto. Weird.

Excuse me J30_Otto, I don't know how that strange "dumb" rating
appeared in your message, and I don't know how to remove it. I
appreciate your concern, although I think the problem is solved
by not flying our missions with VP Modpack.
Regards my friend
PD: I think the "dumb" icon is very close to the page scroll
bar, I must have accidentally stepped on it. Sorry again.
