412 *works fine in 4.12 SAS mod-act 5.30 and also I've been
told works in BAT. Apparantly does NOT work in VP's pack for
some odd reason.
(I had NO trouble with this in 4.12/ 5.30 SAS mod-act, but a
friend tried it in VP Media's pack (also based on 4.12/5.30) and
it wouldn't work for him, I tried in in VP too after he told me
and it wouldn't work for me in VP's either. g'ah! Ideas? If
not, looks like a 4.12/5.30 mod-act only. I had no idea and
figured it would work in ANY 4.12 5.30 type install. Is the MTO
map different in VP's?)

Details:
Based on the RAF attack of 9 February 1945 on the German
destroyer Z33
This set of three missions offers three different points of view
of the RAF attack on the German destroyer Z33 while the ship and
a group of escorts were sheltering in Forde Fjord. The event has
since become known as Black Friday.
Once again, my apologies for the size of the download. It will,
however, be well worth the wait. Among the files are a large
number of custom skins, including about thirty previously
unpublished Beaufighter and Mustang III skins created
specifically for this project by Hayate.

Details: Air Start due to time from and to airfield...you MUST
fight, return to your base land to complete objective!
The only time in WWII that the United States and the Soviet
Union air forces clashed, The Battle of Nis.
At 1240 hours on November 7, 1944, a flight of P-38's went off
course and attacked what they thought was a German supply
column. It was however a Russian supply column headed to support
their troops near Belgrade.
You will fly for the Russian 659th Regiment 288th Air Division
as Soviet fighter ace Captain Alexander Koldunov.
A complete set of skins for this mission is included.
Installation instructions for the mission and the skins is
enclosed along with as much historical information as I could
find.
Built in and for the stock version of the game it should play in
just about any version 4.10 and above.

PS, many thanks to our friend, Beebop for this nice mission!

Having trouble extracting this one. Probably a senior moment. I
sent the YAK3 file to BAT3.8/Missions/Single/Ru but it doesn't
appear in the Single mission list. What am I doing wrong?

Tried sending to Vpmodpack but still doesn't show. Am I
extracting it to the wrong folder? Had no problem with the
previous two missions.

Hey Lars. I loaded it ok. I used a slightly different method. I
unzipped into a temp directory then copied the Yak-3 folder into
Missions\Single\RU and all was well. It did not help my flying
ability though, unfortunately.

Thanks Von. Did what you said and it worked. Got confused with
more than one file saying Missions/Single in BAT. Either loaded
too far in or not far enough. Need regular extracts to keep
knowledge functioning.

It's a desperate race to protect downed pilots in the sound! Who
will win?
Cactus Fighters of Guadalcanal Mission 06
Time - 13:30 hrs
Date - August 22nd, 1942
Weather - Scattered clouds at 3100 feet. Winds are 7 knots from
72, with gusts to 10 knots.
Mission Brief -
VMF-223 Bulldogs F4F-4 Wildcat
While the Japanese bombers were bombing the field, VMSB-232 flew
north around Florida Island to save the aircraft. While orbiting
they were jumped by some Rufes. One aircraft was shot down,
another shot up and limping.
The SBDs swarmed the Rufes, and chased them off. Once they were
out of danger, the flight escorted the damaged plane back to
base.
Four of the VMSB-232 stayed behind and orbited around the downed
pilots. The flight called their position out to Gavutu. The
Australians have a rescue squadron assigned at Florida Island
now.
The Australians dispatched a PBY to pick up the pilots. Once
they arrived in the area, the SBDs now low on fuel returned to
Henderson. However as the PBY was setting down the Rufes
returned. The PBY received damage and moved off, hoping to draw
the Rufes away from the downed pilots.
Your plane and another are being refueled and rearmed. Take off
and search for these pilots. Once you find them protect them
until PT-85 gets to them.
Once they know you're friendly they could deploy smoke to help
you spot them. Keep the Rufes away from them until the PT boat
can get to them and pick them up.
Victory Conditions -
Patrol at rescue point. Destroy any Japanese aircraft in the
rescue area. Protect the downed pilots until help arrives.
Bonus Points -
Taxi aircraft to the recovery point on the runway. The secondary
mission recon point on the map is the location.
Hidden mission points are in this mission for pilots that go
above and beyond their duty.
Many thanks to M4T for hosting this mission and many special
thanks to "Chameleon" for making it! ;D
