The Shack (Devil's Corner)
By: Eilik Date: January 26, 2013, 11:56 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
A boy, no older than ten would sit huddled next to a fire as he
rifled through pages of a book, a neatly drawn circle sits
etched onto the ground in charcoal, it would look to be well
done, as if by skilled hands. The boy, dressed in ragged
clothes, a pair of welder's goggles sit upon his head, he would
peer to the circle occasionally before glancing at the books
open pages, squinting in the faint light his fire was giving
out.
There would be a loud bang as suddenly Eilik was thrown to the
ground, a smell of brimstone as he turned up his nose, picking
himself up, a hand on his head. "Oh I swear...I know that
headache." Before he would peer at the boy, shaking his head,
clearing his vision free of blurriness. "Oi! The fuck do you
think you're doing?" The daemon would take a step forward before
slamming his face into the invisible barrier that separated the
two. "Owww..."

The boy would clutch onto the top of the book, peering over at
Eilik, "...It worked..." He would seem to mutter in a meek
little voice. He would flip a few pages as Eilik would rub his
nose, getting situated inside the circle, "How in the hell can a
kid do this?" The daemon wondered aloud. The kid would blink,
turning up his nose, "Hey! I'm not a kid!"
Eilik would blink, peering over at him, "Please, you're no more
than what, eight?"
"Ten!"
"Exactly, you're a child."
The boy would huff, flipping to a page, he would trace a line
with his finger as a light would appear inside the circle,
directly behind Eilik. Eilik raises an eyebrow, peering over his
shoulder, "....Never piss off a child when he has your tome..."
He would mutter to himself before he would cross his arms, not
able to hide in the shadows of the confined space, his skin
steaming slightly.

"My name is Ventus, and not child!" The boy would manage to
squeak, pulling the goggles down over his eyes. He would peer
down to the book. "Says here you do sorts of contracts..." He
would turn up his nose, "But its not clear on this, I dunno what
it means."
Eilik would blink, a grin hidden behind his eyes, this was going
to be an easy one. "Oh yes, contracts, well chi- I...mean
Ventus...I kill people, but it's at a steep price and normally
only offer it to people ol-....I mean more experienced than
yourself."
Ventus would blink behind the goggles, his ragged black hair
hanging down past his ears as he stared at the daemon, "...Kill
people? I don't want anyone dead..." He would mutter.

Eilik would adjust his coat, "Then I'm no use to you." The boy
would frown, the light intensifying as Eilik's skin would start
to steam more. "Alrght! The fuck you want!?" The kid would set
the tome on the ground before he hugged his knees, "Have...have
you heard of a place called the Lost Isle?" He would mutter.
Eilik would blink, "Kid, I'm relatively new around here, when
I'm not carrying out jobs I stick to my house. Which is
secluded, away from everything else." The kid would frown once
more but the light steadied. There would seeme to be a light
glow coming from the inside of the goggles, but it was hard to
tell from Eilik's viewpoint with the fire dancing lights off the
lenses.
"There...there's supposed to be a book there. I need it." Eilik
would blink, "Uh ki-Ventus? why do you need this book? And why
can't you get it yourself?" He would pinch the bridge of his
nose as the boy would huff, "It's dangerous, bad things happen
to people outside..."
"Oh no, I am -not- babysitting!" The light would intensify
greatly as Eilik was forced to his knees, "Not...doing...it." He
would say through grit teeth.

Ventus would huff, turning up his nose he would push himself to
his feet, a good couple feet shorter than Eilik, this boy was
not a big one, whatsoever. "Fine then! I'll let you sit in
'time-out' while I go try to find something to eat." The kid
would grumble, walking toward the door he would pull a dark blue
cloak from a rusted nail on the side wall, pulling it on with
the hood up. He would open the shack's door carefully, peeking
outside.
Eilik would grumble, eventually sitting himself in a seated
position as he watched the boy, also grumbling to himself.

Ventus would slip out the door, slamming the rotten wooden door
shut behind him as Eilik's ear would twitch. His spidey sense is
tingling!

RIGHT outside of the door of a certain shack, a small bear would
be sitting. Its head tilted, just the largest crystal blue eyes
anyone would have ever seen, and just the softest looking black
fur someone in a place like this could have ever seen. The
meduim-sized bear just sits there, like it was perfectly normal
for animal to be sitting outside of someones door waiting like
this. No, she was not there a moment ago when he looked, but
what better to shock someone than appear out of nowhere?! "The
element of surprise!" She though happily as her little stub of a
tail would wiggle a bit.

Ventus would freeze, his back turned to the bear currently but
he knew it was there, yes. There was always something lurking
behind him. He would peer behind him, lights dancing off his
goggles as he would peer at the small bear. He would blink,
turning around he would scratch his head under the hood,
"...I've never seen you around here..." He would mutter.

Taru tilts her head at him, letting out a soft rumbling sound.
Though she would swiftly move to stand on her four paws, slowly
hobbling forward towards him to lightly nudge him with the flat
of her head. It is obvious from her slow and easy movements she
means no harm, seeming quite calm and relaxed to just approach
this stranger. Her nose wrinkles a bit as she sniffs towards
him, a fuzzy brow quirked, clearly still curious.

Ventus would tilt his head before reaching a hand out, a grin on
his face. "And its nice..." He would idly scratch behind this
bear's ears, his stomach growling lowly, "I'm sorry, I've gotta
go. I've got a guest!" With that he would spin on heel, rushing
off!
