Re: Lena has heartworm and seizures

So we got to the vet and she had a seizure in the parking lot.
It was a scary one, mostly because she'd done so well since that
day she had 3. As we were driving home after dropping her off
the vet called. When I called back, they said Dr. Dan decided
it'd be better for her to come home after her shot today, and
then we bring her back for another shot tomorrow.
Um.... The girl freaks at car rides so you want to double the
number she takes? But yeah, I'd rather she was here with us to
keep an eye on her, too. So around 4:30 we're going back to
collect her and dropping her off tomorrow morning again.
Whether they'll keep her overnight on Wednesday remains to be
seen.
Bess is looking for her sister, so this is just as well, I
guess.

She's home and safely in her kennel, although she seems a bit
uncomfortable. Not sure if it's the injection/immune response,
stress, reaction from this morning seizure, or another seizure
in the offing. She seemed off-color this morning before the
trip to the vet and that seizure. She can't seem to settle
down.
Maybe she just needs a trip out to the back yard.
ETA: Trip accomplished and she still seems to be moving stiffly
and having trouble finding a good place to lie. I expect her
muscles are sore, either from the injection or from this
morning.

Mojo is headed your way from up north - to your poor pup and to
you and Mr. as well. It's so stressful when our pets are sick.
I hope she has a restful night and gets some sleep. And I hope
you can sleep as well.

When I came into the playroom (where the dog kennels are) she
had pushed her cage across the room, spilling all her water and
knocking stuff off the table beside my computer desk. Given we
hadn't moved her into the night time cage because she was acting
so puny and punk yesterday, I'm not sure restful describes her
night.
We probably should have put her in her night kennel or left Bess
inside (Bess wouldn't stop barking at her, so we let Bess spend
the night in the backyard). Lena doesn't move the walls of her
kennel around if Bess is close, but a) we thought Lena would be
more stressed with Bess barking at her all night and b) it took
us several minutes to finally get Lena from the backdoor to the
playroom, a whopping 40 feet, so we thought she'd be too stiff
and sore to push her cage around. We thought wrong.
Lesson learned. If she comes back from the vet tonight instead
of over-nighting with them, it's the night kennel.

Lena is back at the vet for the second shot in this two-shot
sequence. We did much better getting in this time -- no
seizures, she was calm and interested in the long line of dogs
and cats waiting for the walk-in check-in. Since Lena was
expected, we got to jump the line (also, I suspect, because of
yesterday's seizure and they don't want that freaking out the
waiting patrons). I did forget to bring along her seizure meds,
but to be honest, they forgot to give it to her yesterday
mid-day anyway, so I wasn't all that fussed. I expect we're
picking her up again today, anyway.
But she is absolutely going into the night kennel if she's home
tonight. She recovers somewhere in the middle of the night and
then wants to be active.
