Error Reporting/Troubleshooting
By: animaniactoo Date: April 15, 2025, 2:49 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
**It has come to my attention that occasionally people are
having site slowdowns/errors that they have not mentioned to me.
Possibly because they think the issue is on their side, rather
than the site.
However, it is in our interests to be able to report in to the
platform manager when issues are happening, so I am starting
this thread as a one-stop for error
reporting/troubleshooting/problem updates.**

I'm probably one person who has simply adapted to the slow
downs.
What kind of information is most helpful? Things like OS, type
of device? I'm sure there is more.

 OS
 Type of device
 Web Browser
Whether you have checked that it is limited to here (aka did
you load a Google page to check how fast it loaded?),
Time of day when it happened if you are reporting after the
site has resumed full function.
How long the slowdown lasted or has been going on.
General location (State/Country is good, I will not ask for
city even though that can help narrow down. Unless there's a
major problem, I think preserving the general anonymity is the
higher priority).
What the specific text of the message was (if you received an
error message).
Don't have to give all of the above, but whatever you can give
is useful.

Ive had trouble at all times of day and night. It happens on my
I Pad which is older but also on my MacBook which is only a year
old. Both use Safari as my browser, but different versions.
The slowdown has been occasional for a few months but in the
last 3 or 4 weeks its been a regular occurrence. Sometimes
worse than other times but never goes away completely.
Never an error message but sometimes slow enough that it times
out.
Happens in Minneapolis but also when Im at the cabin in
northern Mn - which ironically has faster internet than we have
in Minneapolis. But even in Mpls we have two internet options
and the slowdown happens on both.

Things have been noticeably slower on this site than other sites
on Firefox on my work laptop lately - which is a Lenovo
Thinkpad. I don't recall when it started, but definitely today
and yesterday at least. It's happened in different areas of
Greater Boston, sometimes on a VPN, sometimes not. It always
loads eventually, I haven't been timed out.

FYI.
 laptop (HP)
 Chrome
Only Haxnuts; no other site affected
 4/14/25 1811 EDT site returned
 ca 2 minutes site down
 Northern Virginia
"site is unavailable" (or something like that) msg
Reading posts just now, the "site is unavailable" error message
came up (gmail loaded perfectly so glitch confined only to this
site).
A very brief outage, but it used to happen quite often and for
longer in the past (always assumed it was on my end vice the
site).

Now that muskrat mentioned the site is unavailable message, yes
that it was I get. I assumed it meant it had timed out.

Slowdowns have happened to me quite regularly over the last
couple of years. I know it is this site, because I am not
experiencing any slowdowns on other sites as I have double
checked many times. Like MikkiJ, I don't get a message but
eventually it times out. I usually just close out and try again
a few hours later.
The most recent incident was earlier today. I don't recall what
time and don't know how long but maybe within an hour before you
posted about this. I always make numerous attempts to use the
site before finally shutting down. So I'd say longer than a few
minutes by far. If I try again too soon (say an hour later) it's
usually still ongoing

MacBook Pro 15.3.2
Chrome
Slow loads; slow when adding an icon-thingie (even the
cardildo); slow when posting comments.
No dragging on any other site.

Chrome, Lenovo Thinkpad, Minneapolis
Very slow for the last couple of days but it occured regularly
before that. Very slow to load, often get an error message that
the site was unavailable or took too long to load so it timed
out. I can click to another site and it loads immediately.
Also, If I am on the site and want to click "agree" or whatever,
it often takes a full minute or two to register while I get a
red line at the top of the screen that says, "Loading..."
Sometimes this happens with every single comment I want to
"comment" on. For real comments, i.e. typed comments, it
sometimes doesn't actually post. It just hangs.
I sometimes have problems loading this site while on my iphone,
but less frequently. But it is almost always slower than
loading a different website - and I don't normally get the timed
out or the message that the site is unavailable while on my
phone.
