Dear Fido

Dear Puppy,
Yes, I am still alive. I understand how exciting this is for
you. I'm very proud that you appear to have survived while I
took out the trash, but honestly, I'm fine, thanks.

Dear Sammy,
I know you have no idea that in 28 days you are leaving us, and
we are very sad about that, but those shoes were the cheap $30
ones, thank you for chewing them instead of the other ones. No
you can't have the other ones. Ok, i guess the left shoe can be
a chew toy as well.
I admit other than sit and fetch I have taught you almost
nothing. It's a good thing you are cute.

Dear Puppy,
I am glad that you enjoy jumping in the ocean, the brook, the
pond, the swamp, and each and every puddle. I get it. You are
a water dog. Water is fun.
What is so terrible about a bath, exactly?

When I was a puppy, I always thought the worst part about a bath
(as opposed to the ocean, the brook, the pond, the swamp, and
each and every puddle) was the lack of control.

When the girls were very small puppies (rather than mammoth
calves), it took two of us to bathe them -- one to hold the
pup's leash, the other to do the bathing. They're bigger now,
and it takes two of us to bathe them still. This time, we have
to leash the other dog so we can bathe the one without "help"
from her sister.

Dear Puppy,
I too am excited that you discovered my secret stash of bubble
wrap. Perhaps, if you stop biting it, it might stop making the
scary noise. Or you could put it down. Running with it doesn't
seem to help. Just a suggestion.
Also, I appreciate that your farts are super silent, but they
are still yours. Giving me a puzzled, accusatory look isn't
going to convince me they're mine, even if you tilt your head.
I've read the Gift of Fear. Okay, I haven't. But you know what
I mean, you gaslighting son of a bitch.
Love,
Your roommate

Good thing no one else was in the office when I read this. My
laugh would have caused concern.

I no longer have a dog but loving these as much as Dear Cat.
Pets are such a wonderful addition to the household even if you
want to strangle them at times.

I just laughed aloud again, 3 hours and 49 minutes later.
