Angelicas (Christmas cookies)

Angelicas
(recipe from Barbara Ward, my grandparents' neighbor in
Lafayette, Calif., in the 1950s)
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chopped walnets
about 1 pound powdered sugar
Cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add flour, salt,
nuts, and blend. Shape into balls the size of a cherry and
place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes in 300 degree
oven. They are done when the tops are very light brown and the
bottoms are medium brown. Sift the powdered sugar into a mixing
bown and roll the cookies in it while they are still hot. Leave
on cooling rack to cool.
Can substitute chopped pecans for chopped walnuts.

Sounds great! I was thinking of making some kind of
roll-in-confectioners sugar cookies. If I do, this is it.
