A brief tutorial: resizing thumbnails (need content, please weig
h in!)
By: Queenie Date: August 11, 2022, 12:18 pm

I have noticed that with some attached photos, when you click on
the thumbnail you get a reasonably sized picture, and with
others, it's ginormous and I can't seem to scroll over to the
right to see the actual picture.
My request is that some tech person will post instructions on
how to resize the attachment so that it won't fill my entire
screen plus five more, and if it does, how I can still figure
out a way to see it. Bonus points awarded if this can all be
done on the mobile site as well.
Help?

Non-tech here, but same thing drives me nuts.
When I'm on my laptop & want to view someone's image, I
right-click on the image and open it in another tab. Works like
a charm every time.
(Not sure re mobile site, sorry)

My solution requires a photo editor, sorry! I'll nose around and
see if there's a simpler way to do it, though.
That is one excellent question, btw.

The low-tech solution is to take the image at a lower resolution
to start with, but that doesn't help if you want to use the
photo for something else, or if you need to take the picture
quickly, without fiddling around with the settings.

My Google Fu produces two apps:
1) Reduce Photo Size and 2) Photo & Picture Resizer, both free
but with "minimally invasive ads."
I don't see any other way to do this on the phone with the
installed Gallery app.

On my photo editing software, this is what the screen looks like
and you can see the choices I make to get a photo that's
reasonably sized on the screen:
I hope some of this helps.

When you share a photo from an apple device it asks what
resolution to send. For here, I normally choose medium.

Here's my real truth: I have Photoshop, so if I need to resize
something, I have a cannon to swat a fly.
I will investigate non-cannon methods and see what I can do to
help.

My solution is to stop posting photos. Just me and my phone here
in the mountains.

For my Samsung phone, it works as follows:
1. Select the image in the basic Gallery app [ETA: which you may
need to download]
2. Click the edit button (pencil).
3. Click the three vertical dots [s]at the top[/s].
4. Select "resize image" and the size. (20 or 40% seems to work
well for me).
5. ETA: Hit "Done," followed by "Save."
This add a copy of the image to the Gallery page.
