Gamerdads Social Event/Community Meet-up
By: Toby937 Date: October 10, 2011, 10:42 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi everybody!
For those of us who managed to attend the Eurogamer Expo 2011,
we were all pretty much agreed that probably the best part of
the day was the chance to meet our online friends in real life.
After a discussion over a few beers after the show, it was
decided that we should perhaps try to arrange more social
meet-ups in the future.
So I have made this thread really to generate interest and get
some feedback on what the community thinks of this.
The main thoughts so far are to have an activity day with a bit
of a knees up on the night.
So ive included some ideas in a poll at the top, please take the
time to put a tick in the relevant box :D
We decided that a midlands location would probably be fairest
for all.
Im fully aware that the ovveriding factor for everybody will be
cost, so I am also calling out for help with that. Do you know
anybody that runs/owns an activity centre? A hostel/B+B or
anything along those lines.
What I would love to achieve is a cracking day out with minimal
cost. Something that everyone who wanted to could attend.
Obviously this event wont happen until next year, so dont worry
about anything for now, Im just after feedback for these
questions:
What would you like to do?
Is an activity important, or would a knees up be ok?
Is there anything you wouldnt/couldnt do for health/religious
reasons?
Is staying overnight a possibility?
Weekend or weekday?
How much notice would be realistic for you to save/book leave
from the missus.
To give you an idea of the sort of thing I had in mind, have a
look here

Thanks for any feedback/response
Any questions then please ask
:D

Paint balling or go karting would be spot on.
Saturday would be the best day so we can stay over, save
travelling home drunk ;)

What a brilliant idea!! ;D I missed out on meeting you guys at
Eurogamer due to work commitments >:(
I've voted for Paintballing, but, really anything will do as
long as a few beers are involved ;)
As Baz says, Saturday would probably be best. I await
developments with interest.

Great idea, but unfortunately living overseas makes this
probably too expensive for me :(

We'd have to check with them that the karts are fully insured ;)

I won't be going hence why I won't be voting, but remember, I
want to see some funny photos when you all get back, be it from
paint stains in the groin area to one of you being triple lapped
in karting :P

This sounds like a fantastic Idea, the Gamerdads are such great
community and being able to meet up would be great. I'd
definitely come to this as I was gutted that I couldn't make
Eurogamer.

If it involves shooting people (preferably with BBs, but
paintballs will do too) then you can count on me being there! ;D
;D ;D
How about camping overnight? I have a ten-man tent that I could
share. And I could bring my airsoft guns and have a competition
to shoot coke cans off GD's head? :o
