2012 F1 Season

It's back!!! ;D
Enjoyed watching qualy, Ferrari looks a dog of a car & the Mercs
have stepped up to Red Bull pace with Mclaren out of sight.
Everyone seemed to be talking up the wrong lotus driver pre
qualy :o Kimi at the back with Grojean 3rd!
Race predictions & season predictions?
Well done Ricciardo 10th on home debut!

Ricciardo is the real deal. I am very impressed with him (even
when he drove the HRT last year). I can easily become a fan of
him.
Big kudos to Grosjean, he looks more comfortable than Kimi does,
so it will be interesting to see how that all plays out.
Really bummed to see Ferrari struggling....Fernando can't be
happy.
And as for Vettel's dynasty, I'm glad it's over. ;D

Some interesting points were: Webber did Q3 without KERS which
is worth at least half a second & Vettel said he stuffed his lap
up. :o
Massa was 1 sec down on Alonso's time which was recorded at the
start of Q2 despite that the track was getting faster with the
rubber going in on a very green track.
Personally I think Massa is one of the worst driver's in the
field. I know Alonso is good but he consistently puts Massa to
shame. A driver that is only there based on his performances
several years ago.
2 DRS zones makes it more interesting too & I think we will
still see a red bull on the podium behind the poms.
Tip: With the amount of driver errors over the weekend I think
it's a certainty there will be a safety car or 2 & with that in
mind I might put a sneaky tenner on Kimi to finish in the top 6.
He stuffed his penultimate lap & then ran out of time for his
final lap in Q1. His team mate has shown that the car has
serious pace & with a few DNF's it's more than possible.

Yeah the Red Bulls on the third row was a real suprise as were
the Ferrari's being so far off the pace. I agree the Lotus has
obviously got some serious pace. I think Kimi will come good
next race.
Contructors = Mclaren
Drivers = Hamilton or Vettle or maybe outside chance Button?
Schumacher will get a podium this year for sure (Im not a fan
but I would love to see him win a GP for old time sake).

Thought I'd post a few of my thoughts on the season that's been.
Red Bull - Vettel champion & deservedly so. Webber was matching
his pace start of the season but once Red Bull sorted out the
engine mapping & brought superior updates he was in general the
quickest & most consistent. I'm not one of his haters, he seems
like a nice guy & not one of the playboy type drivers you see on
the grid.
Webber as always unlucky when he wasn't finishing 4th or getting
the rare win e.g Monaco.
Ferrari - Alonso was hugely impressive in an under performing
Ferrari...until Massa showed that Alonso was way off the pace at
Austin & Massa was really pushing him in the later rounds of the
season. What a comeback Felipe! I had written him off for a
drive half way through the season let alone a contract
extension. Shame Alonso came so close but to no avail.
McLaren - What can you say. Had the quickest car at the start of
the season & the quickest at the end. They were an absolute
shambles with pit stops & reliability issues. No wonder Hamilton
left them for Mercedes. It should of been a three way fight for
the title with the 3 quickest guys in the field. McLaren denied
Hamilton of that & Button from several podiums.
Lotus - Kimi 3rd in the championship was a massive achievement
in his 1st year back. Grosjean made plenty of rookie mistakes &
should be more competitive next year. It was great having Kimi
back, a real personality on the grid. ;D
The rest - Torro Rosso disappointed & it was a shame Ricciardo
only won a few points second to his team mate Vergne. Mercedes
were woeful after Schummy's brilliant Monaco pole lap.
Ironically Rosberg also went missing after his China win. Seems
as though they spent all there resources on next years car.
Force India robbed of a maiden Grand Prix win after Hulkenburg
bottled it, looked the quicker driver compared to Di Resta over
the season. Senna finished in the top ten more than Maldonado
but what a bizarre race result at Catalunya! Maldonado had
plenty of pace but with plenty of penalties he was his own worst
enemy. Perez & Kobayashi with podiums at Malaysia & Suzuka were
intermittently impressive. Going to be interesting to see who is
quicker in the same car when Perez goes to McLaren.
There were some fantastic races this year & I can't wait for
next year. Hopefully we have a championship evenly contested by
Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Button & Kimi. 5 world champions from
5 different teams would be awesome!

i can see perez in a good car being up there, i dont think
challengin for the drivers champ but we up there challenging his
teammate and hamo may struggle at merc unless they have a better
package, i heard lotus have signed a big player sponsor that is
all cashed up, looking forward to next yr for sure
