ED's in the media

With all of the hype of To The Bone, I thought I would start a
thread about other times ED's have been represented in the
media- songs, shows, books etc. what your thoughts are and if
it's been helpful!
I personally didn't want To The Bone
My all time favorite was the documentary Thin. I think that was
well done and very realistic
I've read a few books on ED's it's been so long I don't even
remember, I do like Identical by Ellen Hopkins I thought that
was good.
Songs- always love Courage by Superchic, as well as Scars to
Your Beautiful, Alyssa Cario (spelling?)
What are some of everyone's favorites and some that you think
are total misses?

Sophie by Eleanor McEvoy is really good.
It touches on the family, and not feeling good enough and
everything. Such a great song!

Alessia Cara u mean?
I love a sharing the secret, a secret between friends, for the
love of nancy, and the best little girl in the world, though
they are all very stereotypical.
my all time favourite is 'maledimiele'. it is an italian movie
about a girl who develops an eating disorder and it is so
amazingly made and so realistic. it has a lot of time jumps
which cause some disorientation, it very well represents the
chaos your mind becomes when suffering from an eating disorder.
also it doesn't just end with her 'being cured'. it shows her
going to her first few therapy sessions, and struggling like
hell, denying that she has a problem, and at war with her inner
thoughts.
best movie. period.
I also love most documentaries, THIN ofcourse, but there is one
I saw a while ago that shocked me, but sadly I don't remember
the name. it was about the pressure the media puts on people to
be a size zero. they took two women, evaluated them thoroughly
to make sure they didn't have any history or predisposition to
developing an eating disorder, or any other mental illnesses,
and asked them to get down to a size zero. and one of the two
women ended up developing an eating disorder, which shocked me.
turns out pro anorexic websites and pressure from the media can
have a bigger effect than we suspect, even on those who at first
seem perfectly healthy.

Yes thank you for the spelling fix I was too lazy to look her
name up. This Italian movie is it in Italian or English? I feel
like that's something I want to check out

I really love Unbearable Lightness by Portia de Rossi and Wasted
by Marya Hornbacher. Both books are super triggering but they
are so raw and honest and really go deep into how one suffers
from an eating disorder.
For songs I've been really into Devil In Me by Halsey and I
can't breathe by Bea Miller.
For movies, I didn't completely hate To The Bone but it
definitely wasn't on the list of favorites. I too like THIN, but
as far as any others go, I don't really have a favorite, a bulk
majority are all stereotypical or unrealistic.

I have only ever found it in italian, but I've been thinking of
uploading it to youtube with english subtitles.
I'll go and see if I can find an existing one for you, and if
not I'll let you know once I've translated it. xo

Regarding books, I read Corazn de Mariposa in spanish some
years ago, and I thought its style was similar to Wintergirls.
Last month I decided to read The Sky Between You and Me, and it
was different (it was my first time reading poetry), but I
identified with what I read many times, and it almost made me
cry a couple of times.
I want to read Wasted and What I Lost this summer, and also
Elena Vanishing, but I'm scared because they seem to be very
triggering and right now I'm not at my best.
