| Dengue Fever - Bangladesh - Deadliest Year Since 2000 | |
| By: Steve Date: August 5, 2023, 7:27 am | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| SUMMARY - Bangladesh is experiencing the deadliest outbreak of | |
| Dengue fever since 2000, recording 293 deaths and 61,500 | |
| infections so far this year. Hospitals are struggling to | |
| accommodate the number of patients affected by the illness. The | |
| illness, which has no vaccine, is transmitted by mosquitoes. The | |
| elimination of stagnant water, in which mosquitoes use to breed, | |
| is seen as an important step in reducing cases of infections. | |
