Cable outage/How to stay safe around technician/Masked Man
Style! (part 1 of 3)
So as Masked Man who takes care of himself and loved one, I am
heavily active in taking health precautions and measures.
We lost our cable cable connection and i will share what it
takes to stay safe and prepare for repairmen.
First and foremost take the time to stay safe. Second educate
yourself . And third communicate and establish your plan.
I did everything I could to educate myself and troubleshoot the
modem, do as many things I could to test equipment etc.
I was fortunate to be able to have unlimited data from cellphone
so I could research online from my phone.
Today I finally called cable company .. we went over steps and
this will require an appointment visitation with
technician/repairman.
I set everything up so that the repairman can work right outside
the house.. I have an extension chord for extra power set up and
long cords so that basically the repairman doesnt have to come
inside.
Point is by being accommodating I want to empower others and
make it possible for others to follow my rules of staying safe.
I will have everything set up outside beforehand so the
repairman doesnt have a reason to ask to come inside.
I also simply communicated to person setting up appointment that
we take precautions with masks and that I care for an
immunocompromised person at home and prefer to accommodate the
repairman so that it wont be necessary for him/her to enter
house. The person handling the appointment seemed perfectly
comfortable relaying my preferences to the repairman in advance
of his/her visitation.
It sounds like repairman has been forewarned to wear a mask like
me and also this is the way it will go:
I will be able to stay safe and that I can accommodate the
repairman in such a way as he/she will be able to test
everything outside. Ill have all the equipment outside , the
power chord and network cord and router cords poking through
edge ofsliding glass door running next to cable box located
outside. He/she can plug in and test the modem right next to the
outdoor box!
So you see Ive communicated my preferences , I have plan and I
am making it so the repairman can do everything he/she needs to
do outside the home next to cable box
later tomorrow Ill let you know how it goes in part two of
staying safe and taking charge of your health and standing up
for yourself and loved ones by using a safety mask!
(If you wanna protect yourself and loved ones and you wear masks
and expect others to follow your lead then Dont be meek or
submissive about masking take charge ,be accommodating and
make it easy for others so you feel safe comfortable and plan
for success in advance communicate your preferences about
masking and be the boss in the mask!
Envision what you want to happen and rehearse it going over
steps in advance .. know your limits and rehearse the boundaries
you will take if challenged.. go over these things before the
event takes place so you may stay safe in your mask and keep
your loved ones safe .. rehearse for success and rehearse for
possible failure.. above all you control your boundaries and
remain safe!)
Im goin the distance in the mask,
The Masked Man!

Part 2 of 3
Here I am in this photo attached..
I am ready! The modem and even the router is plugged in to
extension chord outside next to cable box. No need for cable
repairman to enter my home!
I can check with cellphone whether modem and wireless router is
online after repair person tests if the modem is bad or if the
outside cable line has a signal.
Now everything is set up outside for repair person to test!
Nothing inside house to testThis is how you take the bull by
the horns and take charge and prevent unnecessary risks and
guests from having to enter inside your home ye fellow
protective masked crusaders!
(My guess is either its the modem is going bad or its signal
from up on the power pole that is problem.. we shall see after
repair person comes)

Part 3 of 3...
Photo Attached of Masked Man standing under Cable guy who is up
a pole
So here's how it went...
Bearded cable guy showed up maskless. I met him out by his
truck. When he saw me in my mask and hardhat, He had a strange
look on his face and asked me if some sort of demolition was
going on and then I explained to him my mask is because I take
care of immunocompromised 77 year old and we don't take chances
with covid. Then I explained to cable guy everything was set up
outside for him.
He checked some stuff outside by cable box and then had to go up
the pole and unhook some old outdated gear in order for our
cable internet to work. I made small talk with him from a safe
distance about my way of life.
When he was up on the ladder I heard him clearing his throat
somewhat excessively like he had some extra mucous in there.
Maybe he even spit a couple times. That's not unusual from where
I come from but yeah it always makes ya wonder if illness is
part of the excess mucous. Excess mucous or not, I always feel
safer because of my mask because even people who don't have
excess mucous can also be sick..its just nice not reducing
chances by wearing mask.
Repairman had me and me alone go inside my home and connect the
modem up by myself inside and that did the trick. So we've got
our old friend the internet back onto our computers and cable tv
and roku back without any repairmen having to enter our den!
So there ya go; mission accomplished: No big bearded maskless
guy in our home during Thanksgiving flu season or any season for
that matter.. Directly afterwards I took off my jumpsuit and
threw it in the wash and misted some stuff with disinfectant
before unmasking and now I can sleep well knowing I didn't take
chances with a stupid cold, covid , pneumonia or the flu!
Excellent!Got my Internet back without having repairman in our
home!
The internet is very important for me. It's the way I connect to
the world without being there in person or face to face. We
order bulk goods and necessities online. I perform music and
play guitar and share online and I study and learn from very
intelligent people online ..I get to choose what kind of friends
I want online from a safe distance.. so this is great I got my
internet back the safe way without jeopardizing myself or
jeopardizing my loved one's safety.
It's awesome to be the Masked Man!
Protect yourselves with a mask,
The Masked Man
