2025/2026 US School Illness Tracking Thread
By: Data Report Date: August 10, 2025, 8:10 am
---------------------------------------------------------
It is that time again, time to start thinking about back to
school. The last school year saw many illnesses that shut down
schools all over the US. winter was especially bad with many
schools being closed at once because so many staff members and
students were sick with Covid, Flu Norovirus and other illness.
This go around I am doing the school illness thread a bit
different.
1st off I am starting it at the beginning of the school year
unlike the previous one that started in the winter.
Also, this go around, it will run from now through the summer of
2026.
This will be a locked thread, however anyone with moderator tag
can contribute. If you see a school or outbreak not listed you
may DM it to me or let me know on any of my social media pages
such as X, Bluesky or Facebook.
Please make sure we know when the outbreak happened, where it
happened and provide a link to a news source. The type of
illness does not matter, and this can include anything from K to
12 schools and even colleges/universities as we know they will
have illness outbreaks as well.
A final note this thread will only be for schools in the US it
would be too hard to keep track of the whole world however it is
possible a Canadian thread may be needed at some point if I see
a lot of stories from there.

SUMMARY - An American high school football game was cancelled
after two of the athletes contracted Hand, Foot and Mouth
disease. There is dispute as to how the game should be listed,
either as "no contest" or as a forfeit (which would mean one
side would win by default).
