SUMMARY - Unlicensed botox injections have caused 38 cases of |
|
botulism in the United Kingdom this year. The causes for the |
|
outbreak range from lax regulation of the aesthetic industry and |
|
cheap products that may contain harmful substances. Additional |
|
harm may come to patients because many doctors are unfamiliar |
|
with the symptoms of botulism and may categorize it as other |
|
situations, such as a stroke, delaying proper treatment. |
