Hospital in Ontario suffers Covid-19 outbreak, masks required

SUMMARY - A Covid-19 outbreak has been declared on the surgical
unit of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, a hospital
in the province of Ontario. Visitor restrictions are in effect
for the surgical unit, and visitors are only permitted for
palliative or end-of-life patients. As a precautionary measure,
universal masking is mandatory on both the surgical and medical
units. This includes all areas of the floors, inclusive of
patient rooms, for both team members and visitors.

Just a Masked Man's observation:
To be honestThey call it a precautionary measure but really it
is simply a necessity because they didn't take "precautions"
like masks soon enough...
In reality to read between the lines Collingwood General and
Marine Hospital could be saying they should have worn masks in
retrospect prior to their outbreak..I mean that is the reality
of the matter at hand. I think we all know that deep down inside
a person or facility with an airborne disease would say" we
should have worn our masks".. That's what I think anyway. The
hospital should say " We should have worn our masks ..now we
have a horrible outbreak which could have been avoided by
wearing masks and that is why we are wearing masks now! because
we were wrong" because that's the truth and reality of the
matter.
Excellent idea to use masks. In this Canadian hospital's case,
These masks aren't so much a precaution but rather a necessity
now that they are experiencing the full ramifications of
airborne diseases no doubt. This mask usage is because of the
result of the outbreak.
Now if only the USA and surrounding hospitals in Canada would
follow suit and use masks BEFORE an outbreak they could call
their mask usage 'precautionary' and could actually prevent an
outbreak from happening in advance that would be ideal to learn
from this hospital that outbreaks can happens when people don't
mask. Why wait for an outbreak to happen when one can use masks
as a precautionary measure to protect patients , doctors, and
staff on a routine basis since hospitals deal with airborne
diseases on a regular basis anyway? Why must we wait until after
there is an outbreak to take 'precautionary measures in a
hospital setting which is prone to airborne diseases that burden
any population of peoples?
If a mask prevents airborne diseases why lift the mask mandate
once the number of airborne diseases begin to become reduced
because of the mask?
Would we abolish a helmet law once it started to reduce the
number of head injuries for motorcyclist and bicyclists anymore
than we would abolish a mask law that could routinely reduce and
eliminate many airborne diseases that people spread as they
enter the hospital doors on a regular basis?
Like I said , They call it a "precautionary" measure but really
it is simply a necessity because they didn't take any and enough
"precautions" like masks sooner. They really don't have a right
to call them precautionary measures anymore because of their
outbreak.. these masks are a necessity in their case. It would
be much more desirable to wear masks in a hospital setting
without an outbreak going on. Doctors and nurses and staff
wouldn't be burdened or burned with as many overwhelming numbers
of patients if they chose to make everybody wear the mask to
begin with.
It would be much safer and pleasant a workplace if they masked
prior to large numbers of people getting sick and then returning
to place that got them sick...the mask is the lesser of two
evils ... if only they were to mask they wouldn't have as many
repeat customers returning as well as workers getting sick.
The mask is the lesser of the two evils,
The Masked Man
