Get out and drive!!!!!

So I thought I would start a thread not just for newbies but for
people building as well.
For those that dont know, my kart is No 27 Austin Special.
The best advice that was given to me and what I wish to pass on
is to get your kart to a good stage then
GET OUT AND DRIVE IT !!!!!
Seriously, you will learn more in 10 minutes than after 20 cups
of tea and not only that its great fun and good for anyone with
a hint of petrol in the blood!!
It has taken me a long time to get my kart to drive where I am
happy, confident and just enjoying every bit when at events.
I am a big guy, my kart is not light but after tweaking tyres,
spokes, hubs, gearing, air filters, exhausts, carbs, torque
converters she was really ripping by the end of the Santa Pod
session which was just what I needed to get the enthusiasm back
after the winter months.
If you come along to events you will see, learn and overcome
problems you didnt know you had!!!! And we all have a great
laugh and make new mates at the same time.
As a club, we need you guys to support the events (where
possible) as much as you can, if you dont have a kart, no
worries we always have things we need help with and we really
appreciate it.
If you at the the beginning of your CK journey and need some
advice, there are loads of folks who happily point you in the
right direction.
So you have no excuses, dont polish just get out and drive!!
Hope to see you at a CKGB event soon
Cheers
Andy

I couldn't agree more Andy, I learnt more about my kart in the
first 2 laps of Whilton Mill than any of the research I did
before I started. It was a huge amount of fun with masses of
grins per lap. I'd say its more fun than regular karting and
I've done quite a bit of that.
Whats more, it has spurred me on to get it finished. Can't wait
for the first kitcar show and Brooklands.

Spot on Andy, very few get it right the first time, and the
dynamics of each kart are as different as they look. My first
run had me altering steering geometry and the engine mount to
solve problems but the feeling of doing something that works and
actually drives is amazing. Many have said before a cyclekart is
never finished - it's true! They just get improved every outing.
I think "Get out and drive" would make a great CKGB tee shirt.

Totally agree Andy, it's been great fun and at the moment and
I'm only fixing issues. Can't wait to get on with the next build
so I can drive.😁
