living by spiritual principle vs living by relationship
By: CBE Date: August 12, 2012, 11:28 am
---------------------------------------------------------
There is an important difference between living by spiritual
principles layed out in the Bible and living by a relationship
with the Lord. Your Religion (the set of spiritual princiles you
believe in) will not get you to heaven. Knowing the Lord Jesus
Christ personally does.
If you know Him, you will at least try to live by every word
that proceeds out of His mouth. In general, you attitude will
be, "What are we doing today Lord" as opposed to having a
general attitude that goes "What does the Bible or church tell
me to do." Both attitudes will seem to get similar results to
you and to others, but there is a hugh difference.
So why don't we check ourselves and see what we are living by?
When you "spend time with the Lord in the morning" does that
mean you are trying to hear what the Lord has to say to you, or
does it really mean you are just trying to get to know the Bible
better?
If you have a problem where to you turn? Do you go "Lord, what
should I do about this problem and can You help Lord" then
listen for His response and spoken word to you, or do you say
"Lord help me with the problem" and just go and do what you
think is right without listening for a word from Him. If you
have a relationship with Him, you should be expecting and answer
when you talk to Him!
When you get sick, is your first response to head the the doctor
or local drug store or even to proclaim healing in the name of
Jesus over yourself, or is your first response to ask He Lord
about it and listen for His instruction?
A person living by religion might proclaim healing over
themselve or they might head straight to the doctor, depending
what their religous beliefs are, but a person that knows the
Lord God most High personally will understand that He is the
Wonder Counselor and seek His advice first for any problems.

Yeah Raina- both - certainly we do want to get to know the Bible
better, but why? Who had the Bible written?
The Lord once asked me, "Karl, whose theology do you think is
better; a theologians or Abrahams? Does studying about a person
or getting to know a person enable you to know them better?
Maybe a little of both helps, but the main purpose of the Bible
is to hook us up with the Lord, isn't it? So I sit down in the
morning to meet with the Lord, and He usually teaches me
something about the Bible. He told me to always have my Bible
handy when I sat down to talk to Him. Still, I sit down to talk
to -- Him!!!

I do wish you would comment Colin. I don't expect every one to
agree with me. Still you will find that most all my posts are on
knowing the Lord better by listening to Him.

CBE, there is nothing there you said wrong. Forgive me , I
do not disagree with all that. Just the wording of the tread
title. You did nothing wrong at all. Sometimes I feel like I
just can't do it anymore. I love you my friend. Actually , it is
a nice tread.
