Mac335 (Poulan 2250) replacement carb - type issues

Hi Guys, I have a trusty Mac335 that I have had from new (25
years at least)
I need to upgrade / change the carb - the currently fitted unit
is original Walbro wt391, I suspect the diapraghm has gone (not
stripped it down yet)
I purchased a new carb kit which states is is good for a range
of Mac's, Poulan's etc. mine included, BUT the orientation of
the choke connection is almost upside down compared to the
original, I managed to fit the carb by turning the choke lever
upside down (it worked for that purpose) however when fitted the
air filter housing assembly just fouls the throttle cable.
it is not possible (that I can see) to rotate the end of the
shaft.
I am thinking that my solution is to use a service kit and put a
new diagphragm on,
Any hints tips most welcome, any pointers to a 'proper' orignial
too would help
In the Pic the WT391 is on the left (original carb)

I would try kitting the oem carb as the one with wrong set up
looks aftermarket.
Poulans walbro carbs take to rebuilds with kits most times.
I know some poulan used cable and some linkage. Could be the
difference in them too.

Hi
In the end the best (only) solution was a carb kit, It was a
steep learning curve finding that afer market carbs are a
complete waste of time and money.
My mac now has a new lease of life with its original carb
service with a kit.
Unbelievable how many after markets carbs there are out there,
quoting an original Walbro part numbers and the carbs are
NOTHING like. >:(
