Craftsman 3.7 won't pick up gas
By: pmeyers Date: October 22, 2021, 10:52 pm

Have a 3.7/3800 . Original owner, it's in good shape, but
haven't used it in a while. Trying to get it running again but
can't get gas to the carb. I cleaned the carb, Walbro HDB 8c. I
put a kit in, new fuel line and filter. If I drip fuel into the
carb it will fire up and die, and will not bring any fuel up the
fuel line. It runs strong till the gas runs out. Clearly
missing something, any suggestions? Pretty attached to the
saw, would really like to get it running

Basics first, sure you got diaphragms and gasket order right?
You wouldn't believe how many folks get them wrong.
This could do it too. Just joking on these but yes this came in
like this.

Thanks Cut4fun, I'll lay the parts out in order and maybe you
can catch something. Not 100% on the order since I took it to a
shop a while back and they couldn't get it running. Not sure
what they did but I didn't get it to run, just no gas. Been
going by what diagrams I could find. The kit comes with a couple
of different circular gaskets, using the one that matches what
was in the saw. As a last resort any chance I could send you the
carb and pay you to rebuild it I can't solve it? Don't see how
it could be anything else. Good compression, impulse passages
are clear. I'm doing something wrong.

something wrong? I set the lever even with the carb body. thanks

That dont help me see anything.
All I know is there is more then one gaskets and check valve
dias offered in kits sometimes. You have to make sure your
matching up and using right one.
Some have extra holes some have missing holes. Either way then
those dont work. Been there done that.

Thanks for the looking. Guess my only option is to buy a
functioning carb.

Gone over the parts carefully and alignment with ports. Don't
know how I would do it differently. Ordered an OEM kit just in
case to replace the after market kit. So now I'm wondering about
the fuel line. The line that goes to the carb seems simple
enough, filter on the end in tank and plugs directly onto carb.
The second line I'm not certain about. There is a nipple and a
short length of line that goes into the tank, and a longer
length that attaches to the nipple goes through the hole in the
tank and just lays down over the tank. Apparently this is a
vent, but should it have a check valve so it only goes one way?
Could my problem be in the tank and fuel lines. Some how not
venting?

Here's what the vent line looks like now
