Can someone out there please send a picture or diagram showing
exactly where the duckbill for the oiler and also the gas is
ligated? I currently have 7 of these saws with various oiler and
gas problems. Thanks!

I could see nothing coming out of the oil filler hole on my SXL
12, is there supposed to be something you can see from the
filler hole? Or, do I have to strip it down?

Just what you see in the pic.
Here's a good video on how to rake the saw apart to get at the
tanks and pump. He is pulling it apart for a carb kit but the
strip down and assembly is the same.

Here is a vid of the oil line repair. It's for a Super 2 but
basically the same as your XL

Also attached is a link to a Homelite manual. Look at age B-40

The XL is a little top handle. There are some Super XL's with
the XL logo.
There are no duck bills in the oiler system on the larger ones.
The only duck bills on them are in the fill caps.
A picture of one of your saws would help.

Not sure about the XL-12's but the oiler systems on the SXLAO's
are generally pretty good.
A few issues I've come cross that makes them fail.
Oiler pick up hose in the oil tank rotted off or crac ked.
Oil lines, pick up screen, check valve (manual oiler) plugged
with crap. Remove and blow out the tubes (XL-12) and on the
Super XL, the passages behind the pump.
While you have the pump off, take it apart and give it a good
cleaning.
On the Super XL change the "O" rings on the tube if they are
worn or missing.
Check the two little "O" rings on the back of the pump for
condition and presence
I think the most common I've come across are air leaks in the
system. The XL 12 compression fittings are either loose or
someone has cranked the fittings down hard and crushed the
sealing rings.
Hope that helps

Thanks Tim, not sure I can still get the O rings but it's
something worth checking out!
