Is anyone using a solo 681 or solo 675 in tree service or as a
logger or fallers world? How are they holding up and how are you
getting your parts?

Just picked up Solo 665 NIB. Suggestions for new P&C kit? I
have a NWP BBK for DolMak 6400 was going to put it on a NIB
6401.

Isnt that the little brother to the 681? I would, after the 665
top end needed replace go OEM 681 top end or the 675.
I had a chance to buy one NIB for $325 and passed on it. Cant
get solo stuff around here and mail order has been iffy at best
getting parts for my 637 top handle when needed.

It is the 681's little brother. Will probably take your advise
and go 681 P&C.

I saw that Baileys has the Dolmar 7900 P&C $168. Won't this fit
on the 665? The Dolmar/Makita BBK is listed for 6401-7900
Dol/Mak-681 Solo. Solo 681 kit is $238. Or should I have said
is there any difference in the Solo 52mm & the Dolmar 52mm
cylinders other than the base gasket?

Just guessing here. But wouldnt you have to run a thick spacer
to use a stock oem dolmar 7900 cylinder on a 681 with 1mm more
stroke? Throwing off the port timing.
The afm BB7900/681 kits I thought come with 2 different
thickness gaskets to give you the extra 1mm stroke of the 681?

The BBK uses a .5mm base gasket for 7900 and a 1.5mm base
gasket. Unless the OEM 681 has radically different port timing
numbers than the OEM 7900 timing numbers (since the BBK works on
both) I wouldn't think timing would be a factor. What I really
want to know is there any difference in the cyls. other than
price.

Username Dozerdan here would know, Dan Henry = PP372 PP346 PP084
I used to have, still got the 45cc 346. He runs a saw shop in Pa
and sold both solo and dolmar. Probably ported 681 and 7900 and
could tell you everything you need to know.
I think he even posted his phone number, if not I can get it for
you. ;)
