One of my other favorite tennis players. He doesn't get a lot of
ink in the Big Four generation, but that doesn't mean he doesn't
have fans.
Tom Berdych (Czech pronunciation: [ˈtomaːʃ
ˈbɛrdɪx]; born September 17, 1985) is a Czech
professional tennis player. His most notable achievement was
reaching the final of the 2010 Wimbledon Championships, causing
consecutive upsets by defeating top seed and six-time champion
Roger Federer in the quarterfinals, and World No. 3 Novak
Djokovic in the semifinals. In the final, he lost to Rafael
Nadal in straight sets.
He also reached the semifinals of the 2010 French Open,
defeating fourth seed Andy Murray in straight sets in the fourth
round, and dropping no sets until his loss in the semifinals to
Robin Sderling,[1] and the 2012 US Open where he defeated World
No. 1 Roger Federer again at the quarterfinal stage, before
losing to eventual champion Andy Murray in the semifinals. He is
the second player (after David Nalbandian) to defeat Roger
Federer multiple times in Grand Slam events before the semifinal
stage. He is one of few active players to have reached the
quarterfinals of all four Grand Slams.
He defeated the Croatian player Ivan Ljubičić in five
sets to win the Paris Masters in 2005. Berdych has since reached
the finals of the Miami Masters in 2010 and the Madrid Open in
2012, losing to Andy Roddick and Roger Federer respectively. He
reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 5 in August
2013.
He also played the longest ATP doubles match ever, with Luk
Rosol, defeating Marco Chiudinelli and Stanislas Wawrinka in the
first round of the 2013 Davis Cup 64, 57, 64, 67, 2422. The
match was played on 2 February 2013, lasting 7 hours, 2 minutes.
It was the second longest ATP match ever (singles and doubles
combined).
Early life[edit]
Berdych was born in Valask Meziřč, Moravia,
Czechoslovakia to Hana Berdychov and Martin Berdych. Berdych
playing tennis at age five at the tennis center in his hometown
and birthplace of Valask Meziřč. His father,
Martin, was a train engineer, while his mother, Hana, is a
doctor. In age 8 reached final of top young boys of Czech
Republic in Pardubice and won. Berdych soon became a top junior,
winning the Czech Republic U-12 Junior Title. He then moved to
the city of Prostějov where there were more practice
partners and better coaches. Berdych traveled back home often to
keep his ties to his old school. Ivan Lendl used to train him.
Berdych is a big fan of ice hockey and his favorite team is the
Detroit Red Wings. He has met many Czech players from the NHL
and the 1998 Olympic gold medal team, including Martin Straka,
Jaromir Jagr and Dominik Haek. All of them are big tennis fans
and have on several occasions come to Prostějov to play
alongside Berdych. His favorite surface is hard court and he
considers his strengths to be his forehand and serve. His
fitness trainer is Jos Flix Gonzlez Castilla.[2] Berdych was
in a relationship with tennis player Lucie afřov for
nine years until summer 2011. He started dating model Ester
Satorova in the fall of 2011

I hope so. Do you know who Bertie B. is on TW? She doesn't post
much so you may have missed her. She's an astrologer and she
makes these predictions. It's quite interesting. I saw someone
posting to her and looked at her previous posts, and she did say
that Tomas had something good happening to him.
But, she also predicted that Nadal would come out of his down
cycle Sept, 2013. And, she said he was in down cycle during 2011
when he kept losing to Nole.
All of her predictions were before the fact.
Isn't that interesting?

Berdy's AO kit is off the chain, at least in North America.
It looks like a referee's shirt, although it doesn't look bad on
him. I'm not complaining.
I love Berdy. I just wish he had paired it white shorts instead
of red.
Maybe, it'll bring him good look. Berdy is cool.
