Seven daughters of Atlas and the sea nymph, Pleione. Pursued by
Orion, they were changed into doves to get away. Zeus placed
them among the stars just to the west of Orion so he could see
them but never be able to reach them.

The Archer. Chiron was born half man and half horse, whereas
the other centaurs were born of the sun and rain clouds. One day
Chiron was accidentally shot with a poisoned arrow by Hercules.
Even though he was a great physician, Chiron could not heal
himself. Being immortal, Chiron could not die but was pained by
the poisoned arrow. In order to die, Chiron offered to replace
Prometheus who was punished by the gods for giving fire to man.
As Chiron gave up his immortality to release Prometheus from his
chains, Zeus king of the gods saw the kindness of Chiron and
immortalized him in the stars. Source:

Zeus fell in love with a beautiful nymph named, Callisto. Out of
jealousy, his wife the goddess Hera turned her into a bear. In
despair, Callisto searched out her son, Arcas, a hunter. When
she tried to speak to him, nothing came out but bear speak. Not
recognizing his mother, Arcas prepared to kill her with a spear.
Before he could, Zeus turned him into a bear also and placed
them among the stars.
